On shaving

Awhile back I needed a new razor so I bought one of those Gillette Fusion razors. It's a great shave. Much better than any previous razor I had used. I had tried their three blade version and it was crap so I had been using the two blade. The Fusion was much better than that. So, I was happy with it ( Read more... )

Too true. The further one graduates to a real blade, the more one realizes that sharp objects have no problem cutting those grizzly hairs for us -- there's no need to press down on that skin and add a slash to a smooth face.

I realized some time ago that the new multi-blade cartridges gave me some bad shaving habits, that's why I moved to electric. I'm starting to coax myself back to a more natural shave, because the electric razor takes a while. I have enough whiskers these days where it would benefit my morning schedule to become proficient again.

i wish i could remember who made my shaving brush, but i can't.

my shaving soap is "The Art of Shaving" brand, lemon scented or something.
it's wonderful.

$15 for 4 is about what i've been paying for Mach3 blades,
but the trick is to buy at least the 12 pack
or a 20 if you can find them.
the price per blade plummets.

someday when i'm old and my skin is leathery,
i will get a straight razor and a strop.

the only problem with real badger brushes is price.

i'm glad i started with something cheap.
it was a set,
came with a stand,
and a matching handle for my mach3 blades.

now that i know i definitely prefer it to using cream or gel,
i can prioritize at some point
getting a "long term investment" brush and a real razor.

Cool! I keep trying to convince Tua to use one of those, but no go. Ellyane is lucky . . .

Honestly, I just think they're sexy, in all their old-fshioned bladiness . . . My criteria are a little strange, I guess. :p

The Mach 3 will continue to be my weapon of choice, but I'm using that "shaving cream" you were trying out for a bit. I like it a lot better than normal "spray can" things. I've pondered the old-fashioned "mug of soap", but there is a notable drying effect upon my skin. I gots to stick with the genteel stuff ;)

Do not talk to me of shaving, you baby faced pansy. I donate more blood to my razor than the red cross collects in a month, and that is with the Fusion, shaving oil, and King of Shaves shaving gel. Double your estimate for what you spend on razors and you will know my pain. I should just grow my beard like a Raskolnik.
