★ THE RULES ★

I. The mods are the figurative and literal gods of the game. Meaning, what they say is pretty much it. Please listen well to whatever the mods say and all will be well.

II. Info-modding is a natural no-no. There will be a warning, but for repeat offenders, there will be severe consequences.

III. Power-playing and godmodding without express mun permission is also, obviously, prohibited. Please do play nicely with other muns.

IV. Plots that involve player-character death is frowned upon. Nevertheless, if you want a death plot anyways, it should be brought up and approved by the mods first.

V. The mods reserve the right to add or change any existing rules if there ever comes an ocassion where it's necessary. There will be an announcement posted in the OOC if we do, it will not be done in secret or anything of that nature.

★ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ★

01. Why base it on "My Life A King"?

That’s because My Life as a King was our inspiration for beginning an RP. MLAK is a life/city simulation RPG for Nintendo Wii. The NPCs are characters from the game and so is the town this game takes place in. There is no need for players to have played the game in order to play here, the information that players will need have been provided on greatoverlord

02. What are all the communities for? Where and how will I RP in this community?

To start with, the_mogblog is where most of the roleplaying common to LJ RPs happen. This is the 'journal' community where people’s public posts, shout-outs, etc will happen. Additional information about posting formats is found on the profile of the-mogblog and more information about the MogBlog and MogNet systems themselves, please read THIS. We aren't like other LJ games.

Now, padarak_central is where your logs, third-person roleplaying, would go. This could be anything and is not limited to events made to happen with the castle town. Want to write about your character walking around the city proper in search of friendly faces? This is the place to post at! Again, additional information on ratings and posting formats is found on the profile there.

And finally, there’s chimes_tavern, the community for players to communicate OOC. Introductions, plot plannings, etc all are posted here.

03. What is the activity requirement?

Well, we would like you to be as active as you can be without going crazy. Ten posts a day? That would be crazy. Of course, there are also times when 'real life' would prevent us from posting a week or two at a time and the mods understand this as well. So, we would like for you to post at least once every two weeks, this will be the minimum. Oh, and while comments and mognet letters are fine and dandy, we’d only count logs/threads or mogblog posts (that are not liners) as activity.

04. How many characters can I play? Can I play more?

You may start with up to 3 characters when you first join the game. After that, for each additional character you wish to play, you must wait a month and have no activity issues with your current cast before applying with your fourth (& etc). For example, if you have three characters and it's August, to apply for your forth you must wait until September and have no inactivity issues with any of your current cast.

05. Who can I play?

You may apply for any canon character from any fandom, this includes Anime, Manga, TV series, movies, books and video games. If there is any question whether a character is applicable or not, leave a comment and ask! We would prefer you don't apply for a character that hasn't had much screentime in canon, for example, one-episode only characters, etc. Please Note: Some novel authors do not allow fanfiction to be written on their series (and RP counts as fanfiction) so please check the author's websites for their stances on their fans' creative usages.

06. So I can't I play my Original Character here? What if it's based on the fandom or I'm fleshing out a minor character?

We have nothing against Original Characters, really, but we decided, in order to be able to moderate better and address character complaints fairly, that we’d keep our RP free of OCs. There will be discrepancies between players’ idea of a well-rounded original character, but there really isn’t that much of an argument when you’re against an established canon. Creating a character based on a fandom (example, a new ninja for Naruto or giving life to a character that's only been mentioned by name in canon like Kushina Uzumaki) all count as OCs.

Additionally, characters from myths like Mars and Aphrodite or general fairy tales like the Little Mermaid would count as OCs as there are too many variable sources and versions of their stories.

07. What if I want to apply as a character from an online comic series or web novel? Do they count as a fandom character or an original (when I'm not the author)?

They count as original, unless they actually have a published, and mass-produced, compilation. ...And in most cases, the artists wouldn't want their original comics turned into characters for someone else to play around with so it's a tricky business.

08. What if I want to kill my character?

We would really rather you didn't. You’d have to talk with us, the mods. We have a very real character graveyard for a reason and would really like players to think very hard before making the decision of killing their characters. Fiction this may be, but we’d still like everyone to treat death pretty seriously.

09. How do I enter and leave Padarak Central?

The Immigration Building exists for the purpose of helping characters enter and leave Padarak! It's one of the buildings closest to the Castle, and well, the moogles and welcoming committee ever-present should make spotting it all the more easier! More information can be found on via the game menu links.

10. Can I explore beyond the castle and the city? What happens?

The same thing that happens all the time! You meet monsters! You get dirty! You fight monsters, if you’re able, but some will probably run back home! This really depends on what you want your character to experience outside the city, but do know that, for some reason, there’s been a lot more monster activity outside the city. So it’s not really safe~

11. I want a pregnancy storyline?

Not happening.

12. Does anything happen to my character when they come in? They're powerful/magical/god in their canon.

You know what happens to characters who were once very-very-powerful-so-powerful-they-can-destroy-planets in their canon? Well, when they entered Padarak, they became not so very-very-powerful-so-powerful-they-can-destroy-planets and more very-very-powerful-but-not-so-cosmically-so-anymore-and-definitely-a-lot-lot-lot-more-weaker-than-their-canon-selves. This means that there are limitations put to place by the Crystal. It’s probably not intentional, since the Crystal isn’t all that powerful to begin with.

In the end, your characters aren’t really all there.

13. I want to play a character from a series, but I want to take him from a flashback to when he was young. For example, Sirius Black from the Marauders era, is that allowed?

No. In fact, we want you to take your characters from their most recent canon. The only exception to this rule is series that randomly end with an epilogue chapter where everyone is twenty years older and swarming with children... unless you wish to play them twenty years older.

14. What timeline does the game follow? And for that matter, what timezone do we follow for day changes?

Game follows real time and the day changes according to the EST clocks.

15. Are we supposed to look for the king? What if my character isn't the type to go 'saving people'?

For the general outline of the game, yes we are! We must save the little King Leo! The heroes and protagonist type characters anyways.

For characters that are neutral or side with the dark, than chances are they either won't help or would cause more antagonistic plots instead.

16. Can I apply for a character that has died in canon?

Yes, definitely. However, those that come into Padarak dead are not allowed to leave it by the Crystal, there is no future for them to return to in their homes.

17. Where will my character stay while they are in the city? Is there money to purchase food/rent? How do they get more of it?

There are several options for your character; they can stay at one of the inns, or claim a house for themselves. Of course, if you choose the latter, your character will need to pay taxes. Don’t worry though, it’s not much! Please refer to I want to be a Millionaire! and Location, location, location posts for more information on both topics.
