Today was pretty cool.  I got my benefits explained to me, the best of which is the unlimited free travel.  I also get my friends on for an extreme discount (like new york to l.a. for 60 dollars.)  I have my own cubicle, I work for a director, and my job will have frequent and important exposure to the V.P.'s and levels above.  Beyond that, I work ( Read more... )

I accepted a job at United Airlines (#120 on the Fortune 500) today.  I'm the Assistant to the Director of Strategic Sourcing.  It is out in Elk Grove Village (by O'Hare) until we move into 77 Wacker (right on the chicago river) in april.  Here is a picture:

Ok, so, Luke has an Xbox 360
and I'be been Halo 3 consistently everyday
and now, each night, Jenny, Andu, and I play against each other
and as a handicap, for jenny, tonight andu and I did a "power half hour" while playing.

I am drunk and amused and I really want to get a job soon.

The interview was two hours long. It was pleasant, and exciting, and we talked boxes and paper mills for a while. I'm probably not going to get that job, as it is just beyond my level of experience. However, they asked if I would be interested in other positions, which I am, so I'm confident I made a very positive impression.

Well, I am settled in here in Chicago.  I've got one more trip to take back to Midland to get my books, and trade the minivan for my car, but I am in no hurry to do that.  I have a job interview with Smurfit-Stone Friday morning, for the senior forecasting analyst position.  I would be in charge of predicting how many cardboard boxes different ( Read more... )

So while in Mexico I saw this really awesome ad for the TeleHit channel, which is a latin america MTV station, only they play sweet videos and are nothing like MTV.  The ad was different cassette tapes, flashing onscreen to the beat of, "Deceptacon" by Le Tigre.  It was rad, and inspired me to look up cassette tapes on the internet.  I found this ( Read more... )

I watched season 3 of Lost yesterday.
All in one sitting.
It was awesome.
But, the combination of exhaustion and subject matter makes for a day full of paranoia and strangeness.
