Hurray for sleep!

Sep 07, 2008 10:14

It seems things are looking a little up since I was actually able to get some sleep last night.

Cut for the squeamish about hospital visit )

" I'm totally going to wind up making all my classmates sick, but I've been told I have to attend regardless.

So much for the doctor's note saying I shouldn't be around people until Wednesday."

Don't go in to school. Phone the school administrator (head honcho, don't settle for anything less), tell them you have a Doctor's note, you are contagious and if you are required to come in, mom (i.e. me) will be phoning the regional officer of health and explaining that any outbreak at their school was caused by negligence and there will be appropriate media coverage of the cause of the outbreak.

If you are too sick, email me details and I'll get them off your case. This is ridiculous.

They're U of T rules, I'm just frustrated because our classes are in a middle school in Toronto AND we're in a small classroom with about 67 of us...so it'll be really easy to get people sick.

I get 3 absences for the entire year and we're not allowed to miss in the first week, which is probably why the coordinators are being so dumb about it. That and they're angry because of the strike business with the staff and admin union vs. U of T. It still hasn't been resolved. >.<

We have the dubious joy of being in a program that could be affected by both the staff strike at U of T (promptly cutting off our program) AND the ETFO (Elementary Teachers' Union) strike (affecting at least our placements/internships).

I told my doctor that I was having a problem and he called in to U of T...he said he got stonewalled. So he's notifying the appropriate authorities of the negligence.

Good. At least you are strong enough to take some action on your behalf.

And I heard on the news this morning that the strike has been averted.
