i moved out of portland and quit my job again. Faryn and i packed up and moved halfway across the state to the coast. We live on a boat, which has only enough room for the essentials

You could always spend your time playing this. Why stop at a 2d platformer rpg, when you can devolve the graphics further to an MORPG that is entirely text.
Pros: Text-based. Super detailed and complex. Not crowed. Other players are usually literate.
Cons: Bit of a learning curve. Not stat-focused, instead more role-playing focused. You'll almost certainly have to interact with other people, and do it in-character. In-character, which implies the creation of a character, with goals and beliefs and a backstory of sorts, instead of an avatar that can be described entirely by its stats and inventory. No music or sound.
Not sure if you would like it or not, but it's probably better than WOW.

i found out about Seyken Online, which is an online multiplayer 16-bit game which is basically a Secret-of-mana/Seiken Densetsu III online game. it's java based so there's nothing to download (although i would suggest using the downloadable version because it runs better)
it's not too hard to lvl and its still in its beta-phase (not all class changes are done, and there's no music/few sounds installed). i'm on as Grief, a rogue, which is a far stretch from my normal characters.
i might try to find where i hid laTale, i think its somewhere on my external drive. but i havent been committing a lot of time to playing anything anyway.

I made a char on Seyken for giggles, Saitei lv 5 or 6 rogue so far, the fight system is sorta boring and the leveling rate seems slower than it should be (RESPAWN YOU FUCKING PLANTS), sorta just stand there and hit space till the monster dies >_> (still beats playing tibia though), how is p jig's progress in Seyken, been mostly playing latale, Saitei 195 gunslinger rank 2, p jig doesn't show up on AIM much so he should log onto Peen on LT and say hi sometime (Peen was inactive for so long though I had to delete for buddy list space but just try to msg Saitei :P). (There's a new latale launcher on the site, if your external drive's plugged in and you install the new launcher required to run LT, it should automatically locate where you have latale installed)

i'm a lvl 28 Assassin. Once you get dual weild, and faster movement/attack the game picks up. it's really not hard to lvl, and you could probably get to 20 in a day of grinding, and 30 in another. ive only been playing for maybe an hour a day and picking up a lvl or two. i'm just farting around on it, and there isnt any 3rd job stuff in the game and only about six places to train so far. the game is really underdeveloped. the weapons and armor are pretty spiffy, and the skills seem to only enhance your basic attack for rogues.
i'll see if i can dig up latale, i have my login info in the back of one of my sketchbooks, i just dont recall which.
I hated WoW until I hit level 60... which is a really long time to play a game that you hate. Mel was playing it though so I was really bored.
I'm kinda curious about FF14 but I still feel so burned by FF11 that I'm not sure I can justify trying 14. The game was way too broken for way too long for me to trust Squeenix again. Perhaps I'll give it a go though.
No inviting you over for taco night I guess.lcgdmgJuly 1 2010, 21:52:35 UTC
So coast like. Astoria Coos Bay New Port Lincoln City D and I have been trying to find a new game. We logged on during the anniversary. What a cluster fuck. I think we will be hunting you down sometime after September 30th. Last week Bryon, Robert and I went to Ground Kontrol arcade and Bryon kept sneaking off to play Bubble Bobble. You would probably enjoy that arcade. I still surprised you moved over to the coast so soon I remember you saying something about it a while back but, damn sweetness. Is your black ass still drawing?
