Title: Moments
Pairing: Tegomasu
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance, Fluff, slight Angst
Disclaimer: I don't own the boys or anyone else in this story. Only the plot is mine.
Summary: It's basically quite simple: Masuda falls in love with Tegoshi and even though Tegoshi is in love with him, too, there are some problems and obstacles they'll have to overcome. It starts in November of 2006, shortly before their trip to Sweden.
A/N: It's progressing further. I can't believe it took me half of the chapter to write about them just lying in bed. That's so creepy. I'm sorry.
I hope you have fun reading, though ♥

They didn’t talk about it.
Neither of them mentioned again what happened that night; how they’d get into the situation that morning.
Masuda didn’t know if it would have been better to ask Tegoshi about it; find out what had made him sneak beneath Masuda’s blanket, curl up against him.
In a silent agreement they both ended up the next evening in Tegoshi’s room; in his bed.
Nothing happened in particular, what Masuda was thankful for, since he wouldn’t know how to handle a situation like that. Tegoshi still wasn’t aware of what the older one felt for him, so Masuda thought to himself that it would be just appropriate to leave things as they were.
They were far away from home, in a foreign country, having the other one as the only close person with them.
It was just natural.
Tegoshi’s room wasn’t as different from Masuda’s. It wasn’t larger in size that much, but when one stepped in he’d find himself seeing the awesome view from the huge window first. On the right side of the room was a drawer, a shelf and a huge mirror on top. Closing the door, he could see another door right next to it leading to the small but pretty bathroom. It was completely white with dark grey walls and dipped into dim light. It smelled from Tegoshi’s shower gel and shampoo. Masuda knew that smell too well. Other than Masuda’s room, Tegoshi’s didn’t have a sofa but a comfortable looking armchair. The bed looked the same, placed in the left corner of the room, next to the bathroom door.
Each of the two remaining evenings, Masuda had found himself facing the wall there, his back lightly touching Tegoshi’s beside him. They had decided on sharing the bed like this. Masuda’s half, Tegoshi’s half.
The first morning Masuda had woken up in a huge mess of sheets, feeling warm, and completely engulfed with Tegoshi. They’d been as close to each other as possible, Masuda’s back pressed to the wall, Tegoshi to his chest. The younger male’s hand had been beneath Masuda’s shirt, their legs entangled, their breaths synchronized.
Masuda had felt like in heaven. Of course, it had been Tegoshi who had intruded into his half of the bed, who had turned to Masuda and had curled up against him, had taken advantage of their situation.
The raven-haired didn’t mind it at all.
After all, it’s been just natural. It was so much colder in that country than back home.
He knew he had made up excuses as he had lain awake that morning, being awake long before their alarms set off. As they’d finally done so, he hadn’t moved at all, had waited for Tegoshi to wake up.
The younger one had just rolled away from him, stretching himself and yawning, before he had given Masuda the most adorable sleepy smile he had ever seen in his entire, short, but at the moment happy life, before he had mumbled a “Good Morning” and stumbled off into the bathroom.
It didn’t mean anything. It was just the two of them holding on to each other, because at the moment they had no one else to. It was natural, Masuda reminded himself over and over again.
The second morning Masuda woke up slightly too early again. This time, though, he couldn’t blame Tegoshi for the situation he was in.
Tegoshi was still with his back to him; just as he had been as they had fallen asleep.
But Masuda had definitely intruded into Tegoshi’s half this time, had pulled him to his chest and was spooning him now. Tegoshi’s hand was lightly wrapped around Masuda’s wrist, using the raven-haired’s upper arm as his pillow. Masuda’s other arm was looped around Tegoshi’s waist, pressing him close to the older boy.
This morning, only Masuda’s alarm went off. They’d been allowed to sleep as long as they wanted, since they would only leave in the afternoon. Their duties were over; they’d return home that day.
Masuda didn’t move; he suddenly felt just too comfortable like this. He wanted to go back to sleep and let this never end.
He probably was deeper involved in those feelings for Tegoshi than he had thought. It was not just a crush or the feeling of Tegoshi being someone really special to him.
He’d really fallen in love, in serious love with everything and every feeling attached to it.
And knowing this would be the last time he could hold Tegoshi like this with an innocent excuse was even more painful than it had been before.
They’d return to reality that evening; he couldn’t share a bed with Tegoshi there, he couldn’t turn to him at nights and pull him close.
Because in that world they didn’t need that kind of comfort.
“Turn it off”, Tegoshi murmured suddenly and squeezed Masuda’s wrist. “It’s not time to get up yet.”
They’d been up late yesterday night; first they had been out with the whole team, celebrating their event; that everything had gone so well and smoothly. After that, the two of them had ended up talking until dawn. So, Masuda assumed, Tegoshi was right. They still had a lot of sleep to catch up to.
He reached the hand that had been around Tegoshi’s waist to the night stand next to the bed and turned his alarm off. “Sorry, I forgot to unset it.”
“Hm”, Tegoshi just murmured and shifted, until he could turn to Masuda. “It’s cold.”
The older one tugged the blanket tighter around Tegoshi, covered him up to his chin and smiled. “Better?”
For a moment, the brunette just looked at him; then he slowly shook his head and lifted the blanket again, to shift closer to his friend’s chest.
Masuda automatically held him again, pulled him close and rubbed his thumb over the spine of Tegoshi’s back he could feel through the fabric.
“It feels much warmer when Massu holds me”, Tegoshi whispered.
Masuda knew he was gone back to sleep, and feeling completely at peace like this he followed him instantly.
That sentence stuck on Masuda’s mind for a while. It was already new year; the middle of January and still he remembered that sentence nearly every day; remembered that soft voice of Tegoshi’s he had never heard like that before.
Tegomasu was over; after they had come back from Sweden, they had had a promotions going on for the Japanese edition, but by now it had calmed down. They had been told they’d soon work as NEWS again and as much as Masuda was happy about that, he would miss being all alone with Tegoshi; being a Duo.
At that moment, he was sitting in their band room, being the first to arrive for some odd reason. Meetings for them had started again, since in only two months they would release a single again.
Today was the first and Masuda thought that was probably the reason he was unexpectedly early; he was looking forward to work together with them again.
It was Koyama who entered the room first and gave Masuda a cheery smile. “Massu! Long time no see. How are you doing?”
“Thanks, it’s all fine. It’s good to see you!” He smiled happily.
The boy with the slight reddish hair came over and gripped Masuda’s hand. “Was it that bad to always be alone with Tegoshi?”
Puzzled, the younger one stared at him, then managed to shake his head slightly. “No, not at all. I just haven’t seen you in a while.”
“Half a month, Massu. It was just half a month.” He pulled Masuda into his embrace, however.
This was how Ryo caught them, followed by Tegoshi. “Don’t you start like that again, Koyama. Really, we just haven’t seen each other in half a month.”
Masuda chuckled and Koyama let go of his hand. “I was cheering him up here, Nishikido.”
“Yeah, sure”, the black-haired said and dropped his back in front of his spint. “You just tend to cheer up people who don’t really need to be cheered up.”
“True, indeed”, Tegoshi said and sat down next to Masuda, lightly touching his shoulder.
“We didn’t get to talk that much during the few rehearsals we had and the Countdown show.” Koyama looked at them. “How was everything?”
“Busy”, Masuda answered. “First Sweden and then all the promotional work here.”
“It wasn’t that much”, Tegoshi corrected and smiled. “And it was fun.”
The two older boys only nodded; those were exactly the answers they had anticipated from them.
That moment, Kato came in; mumbled a “Good Morning” and sat down next to Koyama, letting his head fall onto his shoulder.
“Shige-chan?”, the older one asked worried. “Are you okay?”
“It’s been years that I had to get up that early.”
The others laughed and Koyama leaned back, letting Shige rest against him more comfortably.
They were all just waiting for Yamashita now, who turned up about ten minutes late, what no one commented on anymore. They were just as used to him being late as they were to Masuda being late.
A manager came in, and they all gathered around the table in the middle of the room; Shige still leaning against Koyama, seemingly asleep again within a few seconds.
Tegoshi chuckled and reached for the pen that was lying on the table.
Just a few days later Masuda found Tegoshi in front of his parents’ house when he came home. He had his apartment closer to the Jimusho, but mostly stayed home, however. These days he wasn’t busy, had a lot of time off, so it was more comfortable to stay home for him.
“Tegoshi, what are you doing here?”
The younger one made a few steps towards him, his hands covered in woollen gloves, a thick muffler in the same reddish colour patterned with skulls and a black hat warming his neck and head.
He looked cute.
“I just thought, we could spend the evening together?” He smiled and held up a white bag. “I have this video game; bought it just today and maybe we can try it out together?”
Truth was, he had missed being around Masuda as often. He wasn’t quite sure where that feeling came from and why he felt so lonely whenever Masuda was not around. So he had made up this excuse to see him.
The older boy nodded. “Sure; come in.”
Relieved, Tegoshi followed him inside. “I thought your mom was here, but no one opened up.”
“They’re out today. My sister should be here, though.”
“She’s probably with her boyfriend?” Tegoshi took off his jacket and neatly put it beside Masuda’s. Every room in this house was perfectly clean, so he never dared to mess up anything.
It was clean in his home, too. His mother stayed home, taking care of anything; and his grandmother was there, too. So, there would always be someone to clean everything. But his own room mostly was a mess. Other than Masuda’s, he thought now as they stepped in.
When he’d been over for the first time he had thought Masuda had tidied up everything just because of him. But shortly after, when he had dropped by spontaneously, he had found that Masuda’s room just always was like this.
The older boy obviously liked his room neat and clean.
“I’ll get us something to drink, okay?”
Tegoshi nodded and watched Masuda leaving the room. He sat down on the bed and smiled at the stuffed toys around the pillows. Across from the bed, Masuda had several boxes and shelves, small drawers. He knew the first three of them were only filled with fan letters. Masuda saved each and everyone he’d gotten so far.
As he came back, Tegoshi smiled and held up the game he brought.
“It’s soccer”, Masuda only commented.
“I really wanted to try this. But it’s boring all alone.”
The dark-brunette frowned. “You usually don’t have any problems with playing games on your own.”
Tegoshi shrugged his shoulders and put the CD into the console. “I’m not feeling like that today.”
Masuda handed him a glass and they both settled on the bed, each a controller in their hands. It didn’t take them too long to get into the game and after they had played in a team together for a while, they decided to play against each other.
“Just one more game”, Tegoshi whined a couple of hours later. It was already dark outside.
“No more!” Masuda fell back into his cushions and moaned in pain. “I had enough.”
“But you won every game!”
“Well, admit it, I’m the better soccer player here.”
Tegoshi glared at him, then leaned in and started to tickle Masuda. “You are not.”
“I’ve been winning just four times straight!” He laughed and coiled up under Tegoshi’s hands. “I’ve beaten you!”
The younger one leaned in closer and gripped one of Masuda’s hands to hold him down, but lost his balance and in the next moment he fell onto Masuda’s chest, his head slightly banging against the wall. “Ow!”
Appalled, Masuda sat up, pulling Tegoshi with him. “Are you okay?”
He nodded and rubbed his forehead. For a moment, they both didn’t move, noticing how close they were just once again; then Tegoshi put his arms around Masuda’s waist and leaned against his chest again.
Unsure how to react, Masuda slightly patted Tegoshi’s back, before his hand reached up to gently caress the younger boy’s head.
“I guess I’ve missed this”, Tegoshi said silently, not looking up.
Masuda wasn’t sure what to answer. He had missed it as well, but if he was going to say that now he would say so many more things.
It was painful to keep his feelings inside, to not let Tegoshi see or know what he meant to the older one. It made him feel like dying inside.
Actually, if he’d let him know, Masuda had been always sure that Tegoshi would turn away from him. That he would lose him completely and he’d disappear completely from Masuda’s view. He was afraid, that Tegoshi wouldn’t be his anymore.
But he had been wrong, because he couldn’t lose what’s never been his.
If Tegoshi turned away from him now, it would be okay. It would be fine, because at least Masuda would have this moment to remember; those soft spoken words; the memory of holding Tegoshi like this.
“Tegoshi…”
The younger one opened his eyes again, gently shifted to let Masuda know he was listening. He felt Masuda still gently stroking his hair and admitted that it just felt good. He felt secure like this. “What is it, Massu?”
The older one swallowed and tightened his grip around Tegoshi. He let his hand run down the soft skin of Tegoshi’s cheek to his neck, gently lifting up his chin then to look at his face.
Tegoshi’s eyes widened and he slightly pulled back; anxiety in his eyes.
Which Masuda didn’t notice.
“I’m going to confess now, Tegoshi, that I love you.”
