fanfic pairings I just don't get.

OK, I read a lot of fanfic. Mostly Buffy, Firefly and VM with a smattering of moonlight and Andromeda. For the most part it's interesting to see how authors manage the plots and the pairings and it's always fascinating when authors manage to plot their way to a pairing you never would have thought of on your own ( Read more... )

I understand your point, but personally, I'm a devoted Veronica/Lamb supporter. So yes, Lamb did laugh when she cried but you need to go into depth with possibilities which is what Veronica/Lamb shippers do. You take little things you know and pair them with chance. For example ( ... )

I'm glad you found a pairing you can enjoy.

The pairing doesn't work for me in a canon universe. Whether she trusted him prior to that moment, once he took that stance everything changes.

I've read au fics where they ended up as friends, had sibling relationships, were co-parents. In all of them that scene, or lack thereof, is the pivot point. For me it is as well. To be honest, if they had been close before that comment that makes it even less likely to me that it would have been forgiven.

If Lamb did act upon Veronica's claim, what would have happened after they had found out who the rapist was? They wouldn't have sent Cassidy to jail because he was underage. He was only 16 and not legal. And as a rich kid, all he would've gotten was a slap on the wrist and not a single scratch on his record.

Veronica would've ended up as distraught as when Aaron Echolls got acquitted. Lamb is a law man. He knew how these things work, and to disappoint Veronica as an individual rather than as a belief is a lot less painful.

If Veronica was as good an investigator as Lamb himself thought she was, she would've realized his intentions and forgiven him.

In all likelihood you are correct and Cassidy would have gotten a slap on the hand. Although you are incorrect in that whether he was 16 or 60 rape is still a crime. For that matter the only reason Duncan wouldn't have been up for charges was because he had also been ruffied ( ... )
