Wicked Photos!

Jan 26, 2006 01:19

I don't have much canon to pimp, but I'm going to make good use of what I do have!

So! Wicked pictures!

From various casts, but the two Elphabas are Idina and Stephanie, 'cause they're my favorites. Most of the big pretty pictures are from the Tour, which I adore.

Pictures. They're shiny. )

These are great! This was even before I got in here, but I had to download all those music files you put on Elphaba's journal.

Just fantastic! ♥

I'm really going to have to track the book down...What's the author's name again? I know I have their book that's a Cinderella retelling, but I cannot recall their name!

Gregory Maguire. The book is Wicked, and the sequel is Son of a Witch. I'm going to do a huge quote post soon.

Nessarose...has arms. God, that throws me off so bad even though I know it's totally logical to not make actors pretend they have no arms.

And we SO need a Fiyero at camp. With his cool tattoos, yes.

I really need to finish reading the book.

In the musical they make up for it by having her unable to use her legs instead. Because frankly, restricting their arms would make it so difficult for her poor actresses ^^;

I want a Fiyero in camp so badly. And a Liir.

From an acting point of view, it makes so much sense, but I always imagine Nessa like a big, pretty human snake. So why does she have the shoes, then? Do they still make her able to walk unassisted?

Liir! Does Ellie have Killyjoy and Chistery at camp?

The shoes were - just like in the book - a present from their father. Later on they are spelled to make her walk, although the person who casts the spell and the consequences of it are much different.

She does not, although Molly drew her a monkey picture that reminded her of Chistery.

...my favorite part about this is the fact that in that scene with Fiyero there are, like, three different Fiyeros in your shots. And then I laughed.

ANYWAY. Why, Elphie? Why is the show already sold out when it comes here? [emos] So. So. Fantastic. And yes, I need to read this book. lkajsd

...this is because I care much less about who plays Fiyero than about who plays Elphaba. For obvious and biased reasons. ♥ And there have been a LOT more actor switches for Fiyero than Elphaba. Elphaba's actresses tend to stick to the role for at least a year, while the Fiyero actors tend to leave after a few months.

It's NOT sold out, silly prince! It hasn't even gone on sale yet for individual tickets! Only season ticket holders and group sales. Keep an eye on the Paramount Theatre, missie.

Do you recommend reading the book first before seeing the musical? I’ve been dying to see it, but it won’t make it’s round here until the summer me thinks. Eh, I keep on spamming the pimpers, sorry!

My recommendation is to either see the musical or at least listen to the songs before reading the book. Why? Because the book is better.

Let me explain my reasoning.

I adore the musical. I do. It's very, very good. But I listened to - and fell in love with - the music FIRST. And THEN I read the book, and adored the book. So I already had a healthy appreciation for the musical before reading the book.

If you read the book first, you may have expectations before seeing or listening to the show, which might lessen the effect. So see it first, or listen to the cd first, and then go for the books.
