ummmm, because in the moment, (person)'s issues and depression and what not seem overwhelming, but if (person) waits it out and gains a little distance and perspective, things just aren't as bad as they once seemed. Everything that seems overwhelming and frightening in your head is never as bad once you talk it out with someone and get another take on the issue. Nothing is as bad once you ask for help.
I think Snoqualmie Falls is a good reason not to commit suicide. I think the Art Institute of Chicago is another good reason not to commit suicide. But I'm sure those don't count. Rich, wonderful life experiences you'd miss out on if you died... maybe that's what I'm getting at.
And it's late, and I don't have any more answers. Hope this helps.
My reason is like yours-no matter how much you think you are realeasing yourself and those around you for whatever reasons seem to justify it-you are only bringing pain to those that care for you. I see suicide as selfish in that the person is only thinking of themselves. I know this sounds harsh, but if they really were thinking for those around them-why would they do it? And on the flip side-i know there are some who think that there is no one who cares for them. They are too absorbed in their own problems to look up and notice that people are actually there for them. SO i guess my reason to not commit suicide is that it brings pain to those that love you...
And i just realized that you already have that answer... so if you are looking for a spiritual answer, in Christianity it is viewed that if you take your life out of God's hands by committing suicide than you go to hell. I don't know any verses off the top of my head, but i could look them up if you like...
