As promised, a bunch of links I've been meaning to share! The personal update might come soon-ish - I'm in the middle of writing my last paper of the term and hopefully I will be done before I head to France at the end of next week. Anyway, on today's menu: queer kids' lives still suck, queer kids are awesome, Canada could make great changes re: ( Read more... )

We can believe that political opportunism is at play in Interpol’s pursuit of Assange without assuming that it’s a total frame-up.

That sums up my feelings pretty succinctly. (It also makes me a bit cranky to know that there is no way that the powers that be would even care about a sexual assault case unless their asses were on the line. Humbug.)

your sex by surprise link was broken, but in case you haven't already seen it, here's an essay about "enthusiastic consent" (changing the paradigm from "no means no" to "yes means yes") you might find interesting. Well, I liked it anyway ;)

also, the SMinfo site appears to be down? I was looking for a pic earlier and it doesn't seem to be there anymore...

Thanks for the article, I enjoyed it! And thanks for bringing the site thing to my attention - I'm not the one in charge of that side of the website so I've asked Chris to look into it, hopefully it'll be solved soon :)

Cool! And yeah, I don't have much to say on the Assange case on its own, as there are too many conflicting details coming out, but that sure is interesting the way sexual crimes are looked at in Sweden as opposed to the US. Much better, IMO. Fun fact, one of the women is involved with an anti-Castro feminist group in Cuba that receives financial support from the US Government, which I found interesting: "Las Damas de Blanco" which I think translates to "the Ladies in White" but my spanish is rusty.

That video is great. I love to see young people knowing themselves, being proud of themselves and speaking up.
