One-liner rant.

Dealing with banking while being an expat sucks SO MUCH, people, I can't even tell you. Or maybe my bank just really, really sucks; there's definitely good evidence for that.

show me the money, public

YES!!! I know exactly what you're talking about. It's been a real pain in the ass trying to get money here in Australia =P

Wire transfers have been a notorious pain for me, too (boo, banks), but I'm finding that what's even more frustrating is having to manage banking and making decisions from far away, when my bank puts NO effort into letting me know what's going on.

I wish the least that a globalized world could do for us (as individuals) would be to make this kind of stuff less complicated and painfully to deal with. :(

Yeah, but at the same time we all know you've been craming your Swiss bank accounts... :p

For real, is it banking in Canada (coz you're not a citizen) or banking from France (coz you're not there) or both?

Sometimes I feel like maybe I should have Swiss bank accounts, they might be able to handle my cross-national status a little better!

My problem is almost always with my French banking, because I'm not there and nobody has even bothered to make a note of that on my account, apparently, so they suck at communicating with me. Which means that I regularly find myself without a debit card, for example, and usually exactly when I need it since I only realize it doesn't work when I try to use it.

I'm leaving one French bank to go to another, in hopes that they'll suck less, but that process itself is a huge headache when you're trying to do from far away, especially because banks are open exactly when I'm asleep.
