As a tall ship sailor, this is a public service announcement for ALL of you wishing to talk like a pirate:

Avast means stop -- hold your line, don't drop it, but stop hauling or easing. It is a nautical term, not a generic pirate word.

HI WREN! :) I do not know about SPACE PIRATES. I assume that they misuse nautical terms because they are not, in fact, on the water. And that is okay. Do you like the update e-mails? Hope things are going well for you!
