Hi, LJ!

Jul 20, 2015 11:50

It's been a while, huh? Almost two years...I was kind of surprised my account hadn't been deactivated. The whole sordid transitional story is over on Facebook, where a number of you have already read it, but I don't care to re-hash it here. To condense: we successfully (and profitably!) escaped Seattle, back up in my beautiful Skagit Valley now ( Read more... )

"WE" have not unfriended you because you are so fucking adorable that we want any potential for contact with you.

I hope/wishyou do come back posting here. I for one miss you.

I am so happy things are going well for you and A. (I assume he is still in the picture)

Yeah, "A" is still in the picture and we'll celebrate 25 years together this September. All those years ago, I could never talk him into moving north with me - but the dozen years in Seattle were totally worth it for the job experience and the real estate $$$$. :) Also, for 54?...I AM pretty fucking adorable. Healthier than I was in my 40s, too!

*HUGS*

I love you too. *grin*

I have gotten pretty good at "reading" between the lines.

Still kicking, though it's been a busy couple of years. Luckily, I kept an online journal and wrote it all down ... isn't that a great idea? :-p

Yeah, like YOU even missed me. ;) I never give this place much thought anymore and I regret all the lost pics from my earlier years here (hosted on looooooong defunct websites) but let's see how this goes!

Talk about landing in vastly better circumstances. The fact that LJ was abandoned for Facebook is one of the singular tragedies of our life times. It is not a case of giving up something good for something better. Maintaining any dept or reality or consistent narrative on FB is more the exception than the rule.

Wonderful to learn that your grinding crisis is over and things are going well.

I'm just not able to trash FB as so many others do, Walter...it provides a separate (and TBH) more important function in my life than LJ does. LJ has always been my Dirty Little Secret: to this day, my beloved is not aware of it and when I've needed "safe space", this has been it! On FB, however, I'm able to interact with the entire world...it's a far comfier spot to communicate with people I know IRL, including family, as opposed to this place where I've personally met very few of you. There is room for both in my life. I do intend to be more active here now, though, since life has gotten less stressy. I really didn't care much for the Jay I was presenting to the world here the last few years...he was so sad and worried. That's not who I really am. The FB Jay is not all that shallow, but clearly a lot more content with day-to-day stuff. I kinda like him. :)

I am not bashing exactly, I maintain a presence on FB and have a group of really interesting friends and unlike FB my family. One thing you said gives me pause for some serious reflection. Many of the people in "Real Life" relationships were a bit put off to say the least by my LJ.

Unfortunately there was no clear path for me to follow from you, from LJ to FB.

The following never happened in any on line media but for me through FB, I am connected with my family, my old Religious Order, my New Religious Order and my political and philosophical fellow travelers from across the world.
