Wandering around Center City the past few days, I keep running into a guy selling bootleg t-shirts. The t-shirt has a disgruntled Calvin on it, and a slogan which the guy yells for hours in this particular way:

The EA-gles
are PLAY-ing
like SHIT!
PASS me a-NOTH-er BEER.

Life's going pretty well. I got another job that should keep me in rent and ( Read more... )

Not sure what to do about your dilemma, but I can tell you what is wrong with all of those sentences if you are actually wanting people to answer. Yes?

I have seen the t-shirt guy a billion times in the last two or three weeks. I thought it was endearing at first, but now I sort of want to punch him.

As for the dilemma, are you even slightly interested in hard news reporting and DN-type journalism? Maybe I'm totally off the mark, but I didn't think you wanted to do daily news. I'd say stick with Anthropologie, keep playing music at the church, freelance for PW and maintain some level of normalcy in your life. Getting to do things you want to do, like go to the opera and not be a shit girlfriend, are super important to being a sane person, which contributes to being a successful worker.

Well, yeah, I always did want to try hard news, I like doing that sort of thing a lot, I just... kind of never got the chance at PW.

1. I assumed the first comment about The Eagles was about the band, rather than the football team, and so I was unsurprised to know they were playing like shit.
2. I am jealous of your copywriting job. It seems likely to be frivolous yet lucrative.
3. Working nights sucks. I've been working as a cook since July, with a schedule from 3 to 11:30 PM, and it is very alienating. It becomes very hard to find room for a social life at all. But I guess sometimes you have to suck it up?
