There's this song that my mom taught me that I knew as "Johnny Burbeck" and I'd never heard elsewhere. But whaddya know. Everything's out there.

so here are the words

Though often it seems to be Johnny Rebeck

and this one has "Dunderbeck"

What I knew was the "Oh Mr. Jonny Burbeck how could you be so mean" and the verse about his wife.

I know that song, with a different tune. And I can't rightly say whether it was Johnny Verbeck or Johnny Burbeck, though my mom might know.

This is what I love about real folk music.

i know this song too, but with yet another last name for the character that isn't coming to me. but i can get the tune to the chorus easily--it comes right back to me.

I'm rather amused. I hadn't heard of anyone knowing this song before, but turns out rather a number of folks do :) Coolness!

btw, my memory dredges up a "g" for the name--as in "johnny grebeck."

lisa, waiting around for a plumber--oh joy

you folk music people are a screwy bunch. and to think, growing up listening to metal people were worried about the lyrics I knew! :)

heh heh.

From a distance, the world look blue and green
And the snow capped mountains white
From a distance the ocean meets the stream
And the eagle takes to flight.

heh.

*evil grin*
