john, your lack of insight into what you did -- and why it was inappropriate -- is only surpassed by your ability to model everything that is vile in the gay community.
but you got your smackdown, reasonable people everywhere cheered, and life goes on.
you are now free to wallow in righteous indignation and back-slapping with your, shall we say, less-than-brilliant boy posse -- who, despite the fact that most of them are pre-verbal at best, appear to be the only validation you'll ever need to convince yourself that you're absolutely right.
let the john love flow freely from the troglodytes! go get 'em, tiger.
Righteous indignation... Perhaps this is a pot and kettle situation? (you should look at the definition before you search for self-validation.)
Even more telling is your assertion that John's friends and loved ones are less-than-brilliant... This certainly brings your point home. nothing is more effective than poorly stated, grossly generalized statements.
Wait, are you saying these statements from a personal point of view, or as a drone for your corporation? God forbid that I'm a client with your company - I would certainly not approve.
Actually, you don't get it. Your actions as a representative of government caused this journal to go away. No one cares about your personal opinions as long as it doesn't show a pattern of bias in your work.

So being outwardly against tobacco use... and being in tobacco prevention... Think about it.
I would hope he did have a bias in his work. Kind of like a Microsoft employee that asserts that Windows is the BEST operating system - that is a reasonable bias.
I just don't think you are really thinking this through very well... You'll get it eventally.

wow, well i hope the employees of Gay City or Lifelong are biased about the people they serve NOT getting HIV! it would be oh so ineffective to have employees at those agencies that were simply indifferent about it, eh?
