This was beautiful and poignant. And the first arthur/merlin fic to make me tear! Oh the emotion/angst/guilt. Lovely, lovely story.

And I'm missing the way things were between Arthur/Merlin, too! :\ I'm trying to remain optimistic that things will get better between them as the season progresses, because although Arthur has always been a prat, he seemed to grow fond of Merlin somewhat in the previous season, so gah, it just has to get better.

Just before posting I was reading an old lj discussion about noncon and its various meanings, and I think pple's reactions to it are very interesting, I'm so glad you thought it beautiful and poignant, that's just the reaction I wanted. i'm not too sure about Merlin forgiving so easily, but i like Arthur holding him at the end, it shows a duality of character. :)

I don't think Merlin actually forgave him in the end, his last words being more to show just how broken he was by the incident. But, yes, rough=good, *laughs*

I agree with your statement on how things used to be between Arthur and Merlin. Sad :(

Uther is a bastard in the series and you definitely captured that (hopefully he redeems himself later on). The story was sad the whole way through but you have a way of telling it where the reader doesn't want to stop reading. Arthur puts a little bit of hope for their relationship at the end which I would hope would get better.

*wipes tears* I second that! Need a sequel now!! Now Arthur has so much to make up for... a broken Merlin is not a pretty sight.

Arthur really needs to control his temper. I liked the way Merlin reacted to all this. It would seem that he forgave Arthur in the end but I'm not so sure. Good job with this.

Yeah, Arthur's been sooo mean. I kind of wanted to leave the ending open, but no, I don't think he really forgave him. Thank you for commenting!
