Just recently got back from my first solo road trip in quite a long time. I was a bit nervous and I missed having my co-pilot with me but the trip went well. I visited with my nephew and his wife and my sister who was visiting them. I brought her back with me so for a few days we'll be doing our 'thing', assuming we can find a 'thing' to do.

Just finished the fourth book in the Steerswoman series (Rosemary Kirstein) and enjoyed it very much. I read about it somewhere on LiveJournal but once again I failed to write down where. Anyway, I was happy to see there is more to come because I really like the characters, but I was disappointed to find out that the next book hasn't been written ( Read more... )

Today my neighbour and I finished preparing the soil for the vegetable garden and put in a few things that (I hope) don’t mind cool weather: four kinds of lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, beets, carrots and cucumbers. Well, I grabbed my courage by the scruff of the neck, gave it a shake and tried one more time to see if I could fix whatever went wrong with my Word program. I’m beginning to think the Fates are conspiring against me. I had just got back to work and was making some reasonable progress I thought when this morning my Word program starting giving me trouble. My internet woes continue. I can get connected . . . most of the time but it’s still a bit of a hassle. However I don’t feel like another hour session with someone who will likely only make it worse so I’m leaving it for the time being.

After a false start, I was just getting to work well ... almost well ... when I got internet problems. After about 3 sessions over two days ...wasting about 3 hours and somehow disconnecting something I don't know how to reconnect ...I think it is sorted, though I'm supposed to have another session tomorrow to undo some of what we did ... who knows ( Read more... )

I didn’t manage to actually write anything new, but I did pull out the work I did last summer and made some notes on the material that has been rattling around in my head. Not a great step forward but more than I’ve been able to manage before now. I need to try to keep the momentum going. Maybe I’ll even get something new written before long.

I've been trying for longer than I want to think about to get back to book 3, with no success. Stuff happening in my head but not on paper. So I decided to try giving myself a deadline.
