Great story!!!!

She completely defies the scientific method

Oh. My. God. I was laughing so hard at this. Totally!!! Babies don't do anything by the book. If they like you to pick them up one day, they won't the next. It's just the way they are. *giggles* Lovely. And I'm totally hoping you'll write more of this.

And boy, don't I love Greg, even if I'm more of a Gil/Nick girl. *g*

Hee! Glad you like, thanks. And oh yes, those baby books are so useless. Taking care of a baby is just one of those things you have to learn by doing, through trial and error. Lots of error. Also, thanks for loving Greg! I really do think he'd be good for Gil; help him relax and loosen up a bit. Plus, the image of Greg and Gil all snuggled up on the couch, grinning goofily at their baby--how could I resist that? *g*

Awwww!

That is so sweet. Poor, exhausted Gil--responding to this new challenge by applying all his best, most tried and true techniques, only to find that they fail utterly. He needs his Greg now, very much. I love the way Greg gets to step in and be the rescuer. The picture of them all zonked out together is too adorable for words.

The long 'awwww' is always lovely to get, thank you! And I think a baby would be so befuddling to Gil, because of the unpredictable, mercurial nature of a newborn. You just have to guess and try different things and hope you get lucky, and that kind of randomness would just drive him up the wall. And I love sending Greg to the rescue. He seems so adaptable, able to roll with whatever comes at him. Plus, yay for cuddling. I think it's a requisite for me--must have cuddling somewhere in my stories.

This is really sweet, and i liked the way they each tackled the problem, and Gil's frustration that his daughter defied the scientific method... They are really complimentary and cute.

Aw, thank you! They really would have different approaches, and I think Gil would be calm and logical, while Greg would be intuitive and relaxed. They can balance each other out.

You are completely going to be sick of me soon. "Dear God, not another comment from her!!" but I had to leave an 'official' comment and tell you again that I completely loved it.

I read it again last night, but after rereading Wish and it made it even more sqee-able. Just thinking about the fact that little Claire is the baby they both want so much and here she is in all her newborn glory. This is so random, but I really hope they had an easy time with the conception. Though at the same time, when I first read this, as I tend to make things up and overread I took it as it wasn't all smooth sailing, which makes Gil a tad more overprotective. Trying so hard for her, and then holding their breath for 9 months, and then now just making sure everything is just right. She's completely going to have the wrapped around her finger. She'll use those big brown eyes to her advantage too, won't she? I'm still loving, do it my way "stoned on exhaustion" Grissom, and Greg being the reasonable caretaker one and all the adorable fluff!! :)

Oh, feel free to leave me comments any time you like. You're entitled to, as my new crack dealer. *g*

That's an interesting idea about them having trouble conceiving. Or, maybe, complications with the pregnancy, like a scare where they thought they might lose the baby. That would probably make Gil more protective and possessive. Now, I gave her Greg's eyes because brown is a dominant trait, but I picture her with Gil's curls, and round little chin. Also, we still need to have the first night away from the baby, when Greg convinces Gil to have a night out and Gil keeps calling the sitter to check up. Or (and this would be kind of funny) things turn around and Greg gets so into taking care of Gil and making sure he rests that he starts getting worn out, and Gil's the one who has to convince him to go out.

Hmm... *ponders*

Ah! The entire comment, I am dying just absolutely, dying!! So, we'll take this one at a time, because ooohh!! *bounces about*

Earlier I was going to get a glass of juice, and on the side of the carton it said 'good source of folate', well that set off a whole other train of thought. I know once you're actually pregnant, there are prenatal vitamins, a better ways of eating and healthy requirements and all that jazz, but I was thinking that once they are actually trying for a baby, the things that would be enhanced, changed, I can't grab the word I'm looking for so settle in for babbling. Like, would Gil really get into making sure he's eating enough foods with, or start taking a folic acid supplement, since it's important for so many reasons for a pregnant person to have good levels of that in their system. (all this from oj-lol) There were a few other random thoughts, but thats all I'll subject you to at the moment ( ... )

So, I was doing some more unintentional thinking. lol Anyway, some randomness, if I may...

When it comes to telling the rest of the team about not only Greg, but the entire baby thing obviously there will be a certain level of incredulity, to say the least. Then there's the whole angle, or well it is Grissom. Anyway, how do you see their friends reacting? I wonder if anyone will be secretly wondering if he's not just having some huge mid life crisis of sorts. lol At any rate, can you imagine? Here's their slightly eccentric, emotionally distant boss/mentor who all of a sudden has revealed that not only has he let someone 'in', but that he's been in a relationship for 2 years and that the someone is not only his co worker, but 20 years his junior and oh, not only is he capable of having a baby, but he actually wants to. It would be insane trying to wrap your brain around that if it was dropped on you unexpected, all at once. lol ( ... )
