Wow! We tend to forget that all of the kids your age in Europe have family grandparent stories about WW2 and some pretty horrible ones I'm sure. Again in America, we always think everything is about us.

Lucas,
I just had to comment. I went to Washington D.C. several years ago with a group of high school kids. We toured the Holocaust Museum, and one student, an exchange student from Germany, was just in shock the whole time! He had no idea such things had happened. He said that in school the whole issue of WWII and the camps was skipped over with very little mention. We took him from the museum in tears, and had to do some real talking and counseling with him. Poor kid! I really felt sorry for him because he was forced to face reality for the first time. And it happened in OUR country, not HIS! I enjoy your posts. Hope to see you when you get home.

And, is it a good thing that when you write "Forman will enjoy this story." that I, as your Mom, know you are talking about the last paragraph only??
