My pet grasshopper died last night. If you haven't read my latest blog on myspace, you know nothing about him, but he was my friend. And I am surprised at how much his death is affecting me ( Read more... )

I think that I've been really lucky as far as that goes. But part of it may have been due to the low number of people that I'd previously kept close to me. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised for this "luck" of mine to change very soon for me, just by the greater odds due to the larger number of people that I've been considering to be friends or even really close lately.

I don't spend any time on myspace, so I haven't read your grasshopper blog, but I definitely can understand the sentiment about a reliable and constant companion like that. My cat and I are buds, and I could get pretty sentimental about her if I let myself.

The grasshopper wasn't a pet of mine really, just an extra thing in my life (house) for a week or so to occupy my boring life with. I wasn't very attached to it, but he was there with me through 3 long and lonely nights and I had fun chatting it up with him as I sat on my couch alone. Anyone that keeps me company in hard times is a good friend, I say.
