I remembered working at the school newspaper when i read this. My first day as a reporter on the police beat, and as the police blotter guy, the previous blotter reporter told me "look for news worthy stories, dont worry about domestic violence unless it is something really terrible, that shit happens all the time." Frankly i didnt believe him, until i hopped in the di car and got to the police stations to look at their reports for the day, 90% of the calls they got were for domestic violence. I dont know why that is, it is incomprehensible to me, but, i will never forget when i had to say the same thing to a woman reporter, she looked at me like i was nuts, i said, something like "don't worry, once you get to the PD, you'll understand what i mean. I know its horrible, but it's alot more common than most people would have you believe." What's more, is that while you are doing that reporting, you get sorta jaded, you look at a report and begin to think "there's nothing but domestic violence today, i need to find something worth
