It's not that I don't like food... it's that a lot of "food" doesn't belong in my body.  No mangos, no bananas, no hot stuff (including things that most people call "mild"), and generally not too acidic.

I was a vegetarian for 10 years, from the ages of 11 to 21.  I remember cooking for myself a lot in that decade.  And it's as if those memories ( Read more... )

My tastes have migrated to the spicier side of things lately so I won't be of much help but in terms of non-spicy things, Trader Joe's sells a frozen bag of gnocchi sorentina (or something) and it's delicious...essentially just gnocchi with tomato sauce and cheese.

I subscribe to Cooking Light and I get a lot of the recipes I try from there, but non-spicy quick fix things that I keep on hand to eat in a pinch include:

* tuna for tuna salad salads
* potatoes -- 6.5 minutes in the microwave = baked potato!
* pasta and sauce
* tortillas, cheese & pre-cooked chicken for quesadillas
* Trader Joe's French onion soup

Not gourmet, but it all hits the spot.

get halibut filets, cut them into 1 inch chunks. marinate them for 30 minutes in equal parts lime juice and soy sauce. stab over skewers and broil on high for 10 minutes, brushing once with the marinade at 5 minutes.

easy, fast, yummy! serve with rice. i made zucchini, too, but either cook it a little first if the chunks are the same size as the fish, or slice it thinner.
