Eli Benched???

The Giants season is lost, plainly. Whether they win or lose the rest of the way is meaningless. So, yes, it makes a certain amount of sense to see what they have for the future. Eli Manning is aging... though this year's failures are hardly his fault, given the injuries to the wideouts, the lack of a running game, and the porous offensive line ( Read more... )

As a Redskins fan, I was "trained" growing up to "hate" the Giants, but I respect the heck out of Eli's career and how he's carried himself in public and on the field. Two time Super Bowl winner deserves better.

If Prince Daemon Targaryen's spymaster Mysaria hired Blood and Cheese to remove either the Jets or the Giants from the NFL permanently, and they confronted you in the Tower of the Hand and forced you to name which of your two teams you would have removed from the NFL, which would you choose?

I'd have the Patriots removed. ;)

My first thought when I saw this was that they didn't want to risk exposing Eli to injury in the remainder of a clearly lost season. Then I read more about it, and I am honestly confused as to what they're thinking. Eli still has a few good years left, and Geno is never going to be the answer for anyone. I don't know what their plans for the future are, and I suspect they don't either.

It's been a bad year. How much of that is Eli's fault or the collapse of the entire supporting cast? I think there's still gas in the tank and an offseason move to Jacksonville would be a perfect match for both team and player as they have his ex-coach Tom Coughlin and everything but a QB ( ... )

A friend and I were talking about where Eli could go today at work. Jacksonville seems like the strongest possibility, with the Coughlin connection, and their need for a QB -- no offense to Bortles, but we all know it's a shaky relationship there.
My friend pointed out that if Reese and McAdoo are canned, whomever takes over could elect to keep Eli going until Webb is good to take over, or they draft a stud QB. This upcoming class is said to be good.
Still, I dont think Eli's days are done, but it is very sad the way this season was handled for the G men
