10k run this morning in 59:34!

I think after June I'll spend some weeks really trying to improve my 5 and 10k times.

I randomly beat my 5k time by about 40 seconds this morning! I ran my usual 5k route in 28:32 and my previous best time was 29:11 back in early January. (This is ignoring my 3 mile runs on the indoor track where my best time was 26:26). I say randomly because I wasn't attempting to beat it. Sunday morning I volunteered to work an aid station for the Fort Whyte Hypothermic Half-Marathon. It's a brave soul who runs a 13.1 mile race in Manitoba in February, but luckily the runners got a bit of respite from the -40 nonsense we had last week. Yesterday evening there was a water main break in our neighbourhood, meaning we've had no running water since around 6:30pm yesterday. This would be annoyance, but it's made frustrating by the city's unwillingness/inability to provide any sort of update ( Read more... )

Just before Christmas, I finally got around to filing my taxes for the past three years! Since I ended up getting a decent amount back, I've decided to use the money towards a couple extra house payments, as well as treating myself to a Toronto visit.
