Disneyland this weekend! We leave on the 19th and stay til the 24th. We're staying a few miles from the joint, so we got a pretty good rated hotel. Marie's looking forward to some sunshine and hotel swimming pools. We've been hunkered under rain jackets for 6 months, it seems. The kids seem stoked about the rides. Hopefully they're tall ( Read more... )

Tips: Get a locker and fill it with water bottles and snacks. You can go back and open the locker numerous times over the day. Well worth the $7.
Go ahead and admit you will spend $5.79 for a corn dog that's as big as your forearm (because it's tasty).
Food in the park is corporate-Coke products, McDonald's fries, etc. We had lunch for five for $35 at the Hungry Bear Cafe (Frontierland/Critter Country), which was pretty decent. Otherwise we ate the hotel's continental breakfast to start off.
Use the Fast Pass for every ride you can. It's better to cross the park a couple of times than to spend 90 minutes in line for Indiana Jones.

My friend Dobber went to Disneyland as part of a round-the-world trip when he was in his late teens. Him and his buddies had smoked much weed in preparation, and had managed to get a couple of joints in with them. I think it had gone 'bad' on Dobber though, because he got a panic attack when he saw Goofy. He went around the corner to light up, but Pinnochio found him and told him (in a shrill, cartoon voice) 'Please put that cigarette out sir!'

"F*ck off Pinnochio" says Dobber, and goes on smoking.

Pinnochio then tells Dobber that if he doesn't put it out he'll have to leave, at which point Dobber swings a punch at him. His fist sinks into Pinnochio's soft foam flesh and, according to Dobber, 'all these guys in red tracksuits swarmed out of the bushes' and dumped him and his buddies on the sidewalk near the Santa Ana Freeway.

Have a good time, but please, be careful.

I think you will have a great time :) The weather here is really nice right now. Before you know it, you will be wearing mouse ears and singing along with the rides. There is a place near Pirates of the Caribbean (and I believe the restaurant *in* the Pirates ride, Blue Bayou sells them too) that have deep fried sandwiches (Monte Cristo) and it's always a moral imperative that I need a deep fried sandwich. With a really green, really scary, non-alcoholic mint julep.

I am excited *for* you, how strange is that? Taking kids to their first Disney adventure is just a lot of fun.
