Beer, with a side of HASH

 So, this weekend I traveled far into the deepest depths of Kyushu for a Hash. No, not the corned beef kind. Or the illegal kind. No, this was a Hash House Harriers kind of Hash.

So, what's a Hash? A Hash is sort of a footrace. It's also sort of a rabbit hunt. It's also sort of an outdoor bender. Well, actually it's mostly an outdoor bender.

while I can totally see how the tetrapods would ruin pretty much any landscape, I have to say they look kinda cool out of context.

But not something I'd want on my beach.

Out of context, they're actually pretty nifty. They come in all sorts of cool shapes and are like giant concrete kid's toys.

I think this is a lot like the game called Hares & Hounds that I played occasionally when I was a kid, though I must admit that I have a clearer recollection of the name than of the rules. xoxo Dad

Yeah, it's the same thing, I think. In a Hash, the chased is called the "Hare" and the chasers are called "Hounds". Your childhood pastime hopefully involved less beer though. Hopefully.

They had a Hash club in Athens while I was there, saw some of them going at it once, cigarettes dangling from lips. I cheered.
