Part of me

Things don't always go my way. Sometimes, I don't get what I want. And I get frusterated. I like to be in control. Not that I really believe there is any such thing as a human being in control of a situation, but I like the feeling just the same. What I really want is comfort. I want things to be easy; I want things to make me happy. Sure, God is ( Read more... )

everyone is self-absorbed. it's built in us, so that we remember to take care of ourselves. and besides, there's a difference between self-absorbed and testing your heart.

please, can we have coffee around 3 today (thurdsay)? i really need to get out of the house on my day off, otherwise i spend the day sinking into uselessness. and when the daylight runs out and i've never left the couch, it's one of the most depressing feelings i've ever known. and i just do not need to be starting bible-study day off like this when i can just as well fellowship with you.

I have a meeting today, after school (yes, I realize that makes me sound pseudo-important, but trust me, I'm not.) And then I have to work on lesson plans, curriculum maps, spread sheets, grades, etc. But I will try to call you as soon as I can, probably around the aforementioned 3pm. Otherwise, we should definitely try to get together friday night.

Joel, I will be praying for you.

Keep teaching, This is a good challenge for you, responsibility is good as you know...and if they need Jesus you are in the right place...this is a chance to be a light to bring something real to these kids.

Not that it's easy...but you know these things.

Stick with it, you were made for it.

I love you.

They just want to be taken seriously; to be treated like adults, like legitimate people. huckleberrybee March 4 2006, 06:45:18 UTC
Joel, what I found when tutoring is that mostly they want from you the acceptance and attention no other adults give them (including their parents and other teachers), and they can tell when you are sincere with them. They really do want the discipline you enforce and for me, as time passed I found they really slowed down on despising me and accepted my love for them. I know one-on-one tutoring give me more to work with, but even my rudest student ended up being worried that I didn't like her and I had to reassure her that I did ( ... )
