i love charcoal, and it fits these pieces very well. your control is beautiful. i have the hardest time keeping the charcoal i draw with from going all over the place. maybe its the resolution of these pictures, but you lines seem incredible smooth. amazingly so. charcoal and chalk pastel and other such mediums are inherently fuzzy at the edges. what type of paper did you use for these? they are just beautiful. she reminds me of this. i love this artist, i think you might appreciate him.

Thanks! For the paper I used Strathmore Charcoal paper, 64 lbs. I don't know what's best, though. I can't remember the weight of the paper I used on "Lenia," but I think that drawing came out the best.

The edges might look cleaner because of the size of the drawings. They are 18" x 24" .. and maybe the bigger size reduces the fuzzy.

I would love to start using pastel, but I can't figure out how to mix the colors. Maybe I just need to practice more.

Thanks for that link, too!

oh man i love using pastel. not oil but chalk. im obsessed with chalk pastel. and painted ink. totally obsessed. but, heh, i don't really know how to mix the colors in oil either. i should learn sometime too, i have a really nice set of them at my disposal. yeah, but hey. thanks for the paper suggestion. as soon as i get enough money to get new materials and stuff i'll most defiantly buy some. cool. can't wait :)

Thanks. =)

I've been interested in doing fan art sometime.. and I was thinking of doing Ani as well. I love her music, too. So if I ever get a chance to draw Ani, I probably will.
