I know this is blasphemy

Everyone tells me that the original British version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is better. But I'm watching the original now, and I don't think it's better. I wouldn't say that the american version is better either, though it does seem polished up a bit. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Brit TV fan, and I LOVE Red Dwarf (all 9 seasons ( Read more... )

I would agree in terms of the show. Have you ever listened to the radio show?

No. How does one listen to the radio show? I've read the book, seen the new version, and now all of the BBC version. But no radio show. I would like to read the other books I haven't read.

The other books are great - except for the last one. Don't worry about that one.

The BBC radio show was the initial version - Adams wrote the book later. Once I burn a set of disks, I'll include one of those, if I can still find it.

I don't doubt that about the sentence by sentence, infact, I think he wrote the books so that it could be a show. I don't know, there was some direct correlation with the books and show. But I think the show lacked acting. Ford was a little too update in the show, given his background as a universal travel who's seen it all. Some of the show just came off flat. I would say to myself that it was the time of the show, but then reminded myself about all the special effects they were incorporating--it wasn't that old.

Surprisingly, the new version says a lot of things sentence by sentence too. I watched the movie immediately after finishing the series and would be caught off guard how something was repeated, even with the same intonation. And I have read the first book, and I think the movie did hold pretty true to that, as adaptations go.

Oh, but the movie did not give the question to the answer, and the show did! At least they alluded that it was the question. 6 x 9.
