I'm thinking about getting a cat come fall (once I get my finances figured out), as Nickie and I are history, so I don't need to worry about her being allergic. Plus, it's nice to have a purring friend to come home to...
If you do adopt, you should probably get two, so that they have a companion when you are at work. That works out best for you and the cats. They are less destructive if they have a buddy to focus their attention on. Also, since you don't already have a cat, you could go a little older too. I specifically wanted a kitten so he would dovetail in nicely with my already adult male.
He was found on Petfinders.com, and he was being fostered in a home through the Seattle Animal Shelter. I really lucked out, with him being in such a good environment!
I heard that you and Nickie had split, but not why. So I hope you are doing well. I feel bad for you both.
Yeah, it was not a great situation. She called off the wedding the day before... not any real reason, except that she didn't want to go through with it. Better before the wedding than after.
You're right about the cats - two is better. I would really like a dog, but I work too many hours... :(

Where did you get him?

Cats are definitely better when you work. Much more independent. Don't need to go potty outside on a regular basis.
