This day did Her Majesty the Queen Herself send orders that I must stand down at end of week from Her Service and a Baronial Edict from my Lord doth sore constrain my travels and I do fair suspect there shall be a picket about my quarters this Friday coming for I am vexed grievously and weary of this damnable idleness and most keen to have at the ( Read more... )

O my good Lord - this must weigh upon you most heavily indeed. You have all my best wishes and efforts toward a speedy healing and the prompt resumption of your rightful place behind a stout blade. I am grieved for your state, and hope most fervently that all will be righted soon. May the week-end's proposed revelries go far toward easing your spirit.

You must come with us to the tavern in Avon then on Saturday night where I am giving to understand that there will be the most excellent players, the which I did see when I last visited that place.

You will be up and at the enemy soon enough, but we would rather have your service hale and hearty than in such a state of wounds that your friends would put their knives to your throat out of love for you. Well I know what vices idle soldiers get up to, and we shall endeavor to keep you from such...

Methinks that perhaps the visit to the tavern in Avon might not be such a good idea then -- taverns are notorious breeding grounds for such vices.

Fear not, noble cousin! There will be plenty of the enemy left when you are healed of your wounds.

I too, am unable to travel far these days, and would be most glad of your company at the tavern, or elsewhere. We can drown our various sorrows in a mug or two of ale.

I should imagine though, that despite your great desire to give your all, that you would also desire to fight your best. Sadly, desire does not often overcome injury. Best to heal that desire be matched with an able body, and all that.

Cha! I know you, my dear friend, and I offer my condolences, being treated like some invalid while the company is put to the march puts me in a fowl disposition as well. Fear not though, for if I know thee well, and I believe I do, when you emerge from your present state and once again take the field, I know, dear friend, that the enemy shall see the lust for battle in your eyes and it shall strike them with a mighty terror. Be at peace for now and rest well, for when the battle is joined and you are once again whole in body and spirit, your enemies shall be as a field of wheat before you and nothing more than chaff in your wake.
