So, it's been a while since I've checked / written in LJ.

Things are Ok. I've got a job, my car is still leaking coolant, work is good but busy, the SCA census stuff is making me crazy, I love my kitties and aside form that I'm single, lonely and bored.

Work: Work is going well, teaching 6 sections of the same class is intense and difficult. The same lecture 6 times, and I try to make it new and fresh every time. Quite the challenge, but I have some good and responsive classes, which makes it easier to teach. I've also had students come in for extra help / mentorship and I love working with them. Life in general is OK right now. I've got a job, it's tiring but good, I know it'll take me a week or two to get into the swing of things. teaching 6 classes is a lot... that's a lot of repeating myself. Tomorrow I drive to Calontir, the far part... in Nebraska... it;s only 800 miles. Well I'm going with mistress Kaitlyn and helping her drive, so it'll be pretty laid back. I have archery stuff because there is no rapier in Calontir. should be a decent drive. We've got a hotel room for tomorrow and Saturday night and we don;lt have to stay for feast ( Read more... )

So... I"ve been told to show up at 8:30 on Monday and expect to wait a round a lot. It seems like as long as the higher-ups sign off on it, I've got the job, so I need to be there with the rest of the FT people, but wothout anythign to do. Oh well, I'll gladly pay that price. I may be getting the job at Blinn after all... on a slight technicality. Apparently ed psych classes no longer count towards the 18+ hours needed for accreditation, so the first choice candidate cannot be hired, which leaves me. It may mean teaching 6-7 classes this semester, which is a hell of a lot, but I'll pay that price for a full time job, ( Read more... )

So, in the past 24 hours, I've had an interview scheduled, wen in for said interview and received word that I wasn't going to be hired full-time. They've decided to go with someone with more teaching experience, even though my interview was "excellent". Well, I just finished applying for a full time position where I work. Hopefully I'll get it and be able to not only teach more, but get paid more and have benefits! Yay! Wish me luck.
