Absolutely Seething! Furious! LIVID!

So I just had a phone call from a dear friend of mine in another state, and the poor woman, a single mother of three, with a daughter entering her sophomore year of college in a big name university, is being harassed and persecuted at work. My friend is an experienced nurse, at a hospital in the Heartland of America. She is very professional, ( Read more... )

BTW Nikki, I've been meaning to get back to you. My late sister, Annie, swore by ZUD for those pesky rust stains. You might also try Lime Away. Good luck, oh slimy one!

i don't have any good advice, but i DO suggest seeking a lawyer who can look into this. A Class action suit could work

Yes. She's looking into lawyers rihgt now. After seeing the movie, "North Country" last eweek, I'm all for working the class action suit angle.

I was waiting for you to check in. I knew this would get your dander up, as it did mine. I was thinking of writing to the paper in her area myself, and alerting them to this sorry situation. I'm fuming!

Does this not smack of a witchhunt?

If I get clearance from my friend, I'll give you the info. She'll be here with me next week for a day, when she brings her daughter back to college.

Yes it sounds exactly like a witch hunt. It is outrageous. If she is comfortable at least disclosing the State, I will research the statute and find out what the rules are regarding the recording of conversations. She needs to start recording this shit.

I think the state is large enough that I can disclose, without reprecussions for my friend: it's Ohio. Thanks!

What I think fritzsmomma August 17 2007, 03:04:47 UTC
I'm with az2tx on this one. Document. DOcument. Document.

Have her talk to the fired nurses and fit their firings into the timeline.

You might prepare single sheets of notebook paper with a day/date on each page so that your friend can writes notes to reconstruct past events. While she is visiting you, you can prompt her with questions and she can answer and annotate.

Additionally, she needs to note on these pages the shifts that she would have worked had she not been pulled from her job.

That's what I think. Good Luck!

i would suggest she put in her notice before she gets fired.

she should join a nurses registry. by working with a nurses registry they essentially hire you out to understaffed hospitals in the area for much more than the staff nurses are making. you create your own schedule.

a friend's mom does this in LA.. she works as a labor and delivery nurse. her schedule is 3 x 12 hr days per week. doing this she makes 70k a year.

granted it depends on what level of nursing you are in. but it pays well regardless. she could also try being a traveling nurse.

Thanks, Annie. She is already looking for new jobs. I'll pass on your advice to her.
