how could making an ass out of yourself and alienating some of your friends make you "truly happy"?

and if you're afraid of getting attached to someone and of the chance that you may get hurt by them... go on and let it happen. you're young, yet. nearly everyone (if not everyone) gets hurt at one point in their life, it's unavoidable. you keep on living, learn your lesson, grow from the experience and life goes on.
also, you don't know what will make you truly happy right now anyway. you've got a whole lot of experiences that need to take place; and you've got a whole lot of livin' to do, first.

good luck with that.

I dont think that quote was ment to be taken into context of day to day life and it has no place outside of Star Wars: Episode III, where it makes sense

I completely disagree with this quote. You should let go of things in your life so that you may be free and happy. You shouldn't let go of them because you fear losing them. Maybe I am wrong, but i saw you letting go of all of us at the end of the year because you feared losing us after we left. You're wrong though. You won't lose all of us. If you force yourself to let go of things because you are afraid, you may be letting go of something you may have never lost.
My advice is to let go of past relationships if, and only if, you are ready to. I don't mean you should obsess over the past relationships if you're not ready to, but I don't think you should let go unless you want to.
Hope this helps
