First song ♫ Video

[ Klavier backs up, making sure he can get a good view of his SFC and vice-versa. When it clicks on, you can hear a faint song being played in the background by an electric guitar... it stops briefly as he introduces himself: ]

Achtung! Now it's a party. [ He grins. ] My name is Klavier Gavin, and it's a real pleasure, despite our current ( Read more... )

[She laughs softly.]

You sound like you've made yourself right at home.

[ Klavier seems to be playing something else now; probably an older rock song you don't know, considering the differing worlds and all. ]

Of course. Home is where my music is, Fräulein. Though I admit... it would be nice if a legal system had followed me; possibly even a courthouse, but ours is... flawed, to begin with. So in the end, perhaps this is just a chance for something new, ja~?

[ And his smile never wanes; not really. ] And free vacations don't generally happen, even if you're a god of rock, so we may as well enjoy it, you know~?

It seems like this world keeps bringing lawyers and the like here. I wonder why. [But she smiles just the same; there's nothing like that in her world, so it's just interesting to hear people comment on it.]

That's what's nice about worlds. It's something brand new to enjoy and be a part of, and maybe make part of it your own. But I wouldn't call this place a vacation necessarily...

Ah, of course not. We're illegally, forcibly here against our will. But to think of it like that just ruins the idea entirely; you should enjoy yourself, Fräulein.

[ It sounds like he's playing with lyrics in the back of his mind (there's a tap of his foot, even, as he plays), considering the song is being so intently focused on despite the fact he's talking to her. ]

And I noticed that, believe me. It's my personal theory that that fact alone isn't proper evidence, however, as to what's going on... or why we've been taken. Whatever the reason, anything circumstantial isn't helpful.

[ Klavier chuckles, after a moment. ] Ah, information... she's a fickle woman, truth, but she generally finds her way out of the darkness to us at some point. I have no doubt we'll meet again.

Ah... Pardon me. Is a prosecutor some type of knight, or a soldier perhaps?

Ahaha. Fräulein... a prosecutor is a man who works for two lovely women: the first is called justice, the second, truth.

[ Or to put it less poetically... ] I suppose you could call me a knight... of the trial. I put murderers and bad people behind bars. That is my job. A life rests in the defendant's chair, and I have to make sure that they are truly guilty... but nonetheless, they generally are.

I... see. [At least, she thinks she sees? If he puts murderers and bad people behind bars, he is basically a knight.]

Mind you, I'd be willing to daringly rescue any princess in distress. Let me know if you get kidnapped by a dragon, Fräulein.

[ Have a wink! ]

You're from Los Angeles?

That's where I'm living now. I was born and raised in Germany, of course. America is a beautiful country, but it's people turn toward murder far too often. Which is why I'm practicing law there during the day.

[ There's a short sigh. ] This place... it's a bit sad, really. It's a nice fishbowl, but I'm not a fish. Too quiet for my tastes.

Yeah, honestly. There's nothing to do here.

Mm, I don't know--as long as I have my music, I'll be happy.

[ He pauses, but his grin doesn't wane. ]

... And as long as one of you doesn't kill another, of course. I've heard 'boredom kills,' but I hardly hope that would be the case.

[Vash quirks his eyebrow. He likes the music and all, but what is a prosecutor, exactly? They really didn't have lawyers back in Gunsmoke...]

You play the guitar? That's pretty interesting, I like your music, Klavier.

Out of curiosity, what is a prosecutor? Are you some sort of insurance agent or something?

Danke. I'd like to think it's interesting if my band happens to be one of the most popular out there--the Fräuleins love a musician.

[ Yeah, that's why he plays. ... Mostly. Sad. Sadder still? This man doesn't know what a prosecutor is...? ] ... You can't be serious. But something tells me you are. Nein, a prosecutor is nothing like an insurance agent.

When one man kills another, they are taken to court. For the sake of the people, it is the prosecutor's job to make sure people who would kill another for any reason, or similar crime of any form, is punished to the full extent of the country's law.

... In short, it's my other life's work to make sure the guilty hear nothing but the Jailhouse Blues.

You have a band? That's interesting. What type of music do you play?

...Oh. I see. [There's a strange look on his face that passes in a second. Imagine, if they had lawyers back in Gunsmoke, Vash would be prosecuted so heavily he wouldn't know what hit him.] But that's really good! You're fighting to keep the bad people away from the innocent. That seems like an honorable occupation.

...Jailhouse Blues?

... Only the best rock. I hate a quiet room--if I had my way, court would be just as loud. In fact, every one of my bandmates happen to be in law enforcement. We enforce the law by day, and burn up the stage at night.

[ Klavier grins. ] Something like that. You must live in a tiny country... but then, even Borginia had a legal system. Isn't there one where you come from?

[ Swiftly ignoring the last question; he feels it'd be useless to explain that to someone without music in their soul, so to speak. ]
