Today is Oprah’s last show.

I saw something on Facebook which ticked me off: Oprah disparagement.  Something about how she propagated “gullibility” and thus unfairly made all of her money. It sort of ticked me off.  Here’s what I nearly posted:

"If a black baby girl born in rural, segregated Mississippi can grow up to be the most powerful woman in show business, there is NOTHING I can’t do." I honestly don't think I've ever watched a single episode of Oprah. That said, she is a shining example of "The only thing standing between you and your dream is yourself." Do the legwork and you wind up where you wanted to go.

I've never watched her show, but whenever I think of her I remember her delivering the news in Baltimore. But I admire her savvy and her style. Face it, whether fairly or not, she started with no more than the rest of us and ended up her.

My mother really likes Oprah. I would say hello if I passed her on the street but that is really it.

I have seen some of her shows. I liked the "favorite things" shows. I think she has done some good promoting products fromm small companies. Overall I also interpret her message as "there is nothing you can't do".
