I need a new phone

Dec 07, 2008 17:37

And since I won't be doing the FasterLouder stuff any more, my plans to get a gigantic, blackberry-based, all in one super solution is no longer required.

So I'm open to suggestions, although Im keen to stay on 3, if possible, because i get some kind of loyalty reward now. What phones/plans do you guys have?

Get an iPhone. Don't dick around, just get one. Virgin seem to have the best plan, $70 a month, which is pretty close to what I pay for my clunky N95 on 3, and you get a better phone, better plan and more data.

Seconded on the iPhone. I got mine through Telstra and am on a $400 upfront, $40 a month plan that includes 160MB...which isn't much, but I try and limit my computer related stuff to when I'm actually sitting in front of a computer anyway.

I have a Hiptop 3 through Telstra, it's unlimited web browsing, sms messages and email for $30 a month, so if you're not a big phone call maker (which I'm not), it's a great plan and not a bad phone. My main issue with it is that it doesn't have an alarm clock. The phone I got on Telstra finance and it's another $20 a month on top of the bill. I make the occasional call (maybe 3-5 a week) and my bill is never more that $60.

some friends of mine have those, but im not excited about them, screens a bit small, plus id like to have the ability to make those calls if something happens, which is why i prefer those cap plans which include the full thing...

I don't feel the screen is small (it's a mobile!), but I suppose if you were looking at a Blackberry previously it might seem a little smaller in comparison. But anyway, I prefer that to a cap plan where I pay $49 for unlimited* calls and only make $10 worth of phone calls in the month :)

I'll probably get an iPhone when this plan runs out in June myself.

I adore my iPhone, best phone I've ever purchased. I fought buying one for a while but now that I have it, I don't know why I was so against getting one. I guess it's because it seems everyone else has one too!

That's my only prejudice against them, I don't want to look like every other tool with an iPhone :)

Fourth-ed for an iphone. I love mine wholeheartedly! (despite being aware of all major faults and prejudices). Can't comment on plans tho cause I'm with optus (they have some good iphone options if ya decide to move).

Well the big one would be the battery - it's non removable so if anything happens (which let's face it happens with ipods) you've got to send the whole thing away leaving you with no phone or your crappy old one ( ... )

ah well, i dont use pic messages too much, and i would think they could fix that in a later release, so thats fine.

and i wouldnt use it as a music player, and i wouldnt mind charging it each night, so thats okay,

same for the camera stuff, i dont use the one i have in my current phone anyway,

but the other things are worth thinking about, so i'll have to think about it...
