Just remember Jonny: if you ever think about stopping in your driving trip remember that you can't.

DOWN HERE IT'S BAT COUNTRY.

I remember almost a year ago we talked about getting your ass down here. Now it's going to be a reality.

Two words: hell yes.

It'll be good to have you down here.

Just don't be disappointed when you realize our plains don't even roll, they just kinda stretch out and sit there. You can't quite see the curve of the earth...until you head over toward North Dakota.

Because we have trees! The state tree of North Dakota is the power pole.

Now, for the logical thought section...

If there's anything your mom cooks that you particularly like... consider asking her for the recipe. (You can always call/email/write snail-mail to ask for it though.)

Since MJ's return from Ketchikan, I've been informed that what passes for salmon down here in falling-into-the-sky-land is a sad, pale shadow of 'the real stuff'. If this is going to be a problem for you, purrhaps you can get a cooler and some dry ice and pack some along to help ease the transition. *smirk* (What do you mean, my sister and I are felines and only want to get our paws on the tastiest fish ever? There are other things we like to get our paws on, and claws into, you know.)

Hmm...

-Frito Pie. Chili, onions, covered in a layer of Fritos and cheese.

-Bakes Salmon / Red Snapper / Halibut. Wow. 'nuff said.

That's the only thing I can think of my mom cooks on a regular basis that I don't really see anyone else do. Authentic Arkansas white trash eats >.< That's where most of my family comes from, at least post-irish immigration. Arkansas and Idaho. Idaho + Irish ancesty = love of potatoes.

And I was actually thinking of just having some salmon / halibut / snapper shipped down. I don't know what kind of freezer space I'm looking at on the other end. Here at the house we have one of those big freezers in the garage that my dad keeps full with the extras from his charter fishing operation.

...and living in a household with 4 cats already, I'm well familiar with fending off paws, claws, etc from my tasty fishies. I are a fish pirate yarr!

Charter fishing operation. That's something MJ didn't mention in those terms. (I'd go poke her, but she's sleeping.)

Here at the apartment we have ye old refrigerator-freezer. But the chances are good we can wrangle some chest-freezer space from Mom, and/or from Mikey (you'll meet him in short order, once you're here) who's just a few blocks over. Pixel may require a tithe though. ^_^

"Authentic Arkansas white trash eats" ... that sounds horrible and intriguing all at the same time. What does this consist of? Or does that refer to the Frito pie? (btw, readmore probably would enjoy that. When Mom says she hasn't had any 'real food' in a while... yeah. Fritos are 'real food'...)

And we like potatoes. We just have to remember to -eat- them when we have them. (They hide in dark places, see...)

And now I have to get my tail in gear and get out the door. >.> This 'work' thing is destroying the leisurely check-email-read-LJ-and-veg morning routine.
