Saying goodbye to Wigtown isn't easy and one event literally during our last minutes in town describes why we felt so at home there. We placed ourselves and our luggage at the bus station right under the timetable for the buses to Newton Stewart. An old lady saw this and came from far away across the parking lot and told us how most people thought ( Read more... )

Our first event this day begins at 10.30 a.m. so we have enough time to spend the perfectly sunny and warm morning walking around Wigtown.
Every single person we meet on the street or down at the trail to the Martyrs Stake and the harbor is smiling and greeting us with the words how beautiful this morning is.
And they're all right of course.

Very early we're on our way to the South. The train leaves from Oban to Glasgow Queen St and the journey is beautiful. This railway line is considered the most scenic in Britain. It's a bit gray and rainy but we have some wonderful views of Loch Lomond, Loch Long and Rannoch Moor ( Read more... )

We tried to make friends with Oban the next day and it wasn't so hard. After all we live in a large city and are used to cars and exhaust gases. But when you walk in the direction of the youth hostel and further along the coast or when you climb up to McCaig's Tower, Oban isn't so bad.

Walking down into the little town from our hut never gets old. There's so much to see: houses of course and gardens, but also an interesting garage (always open), a really shabby B&B and then the view over the water and the hills across from the harbour. Even on a rainy day it looks gorgeous.

Again a breathtakingly beautiful journey, this time by bus.
From Inverness bus station the road goes straight to Loch Ness and follows its shore for a long time. It's a gray rainy day and photos out of the bus windows are difficult - most of the time my little camera decides to give me a sharp image of the raindrops on the window.
