This is really heart wrenching. I remember leaving this episode with a white hot rage towards Joe for abandoning Steve after he'd just opened himself up to the man who is basically his father figure and get slapped in the face.

I think this a very honest and painful reaction to all the events that led up to the end of 2.13 and that you wrote with a lot of grace and dignity.

Thank you.

That's exactly how I felt after watching this episode. I was so angry at Joe for the way he had acted and I couldn't forget Steve's eyes and the expression on his face when Joe walked away.

Thank you so much! Your words really mean a lot to me. *hugs*

This was so sensitively written. I ached for Steve because he really was gut-punched. To have a father figure out right lie to you, and not accept the fact you can handle the truth is horrible, especially when his collective actions are so contradictory.

Steve's emotional fallout was angtsy beautiful and the triggers to his PSTD symptoms very realistic, including the sensory imagery and smells. I admit I wasn't sure about having a pivotal conversation between Steve and Danny all on the phone, but it really worked. Because Steve didn’t have anyone to hide his reactions from and these two are so close, that they can read each other from tone alone.

I think Danny's anger and fear was spot on and I loved how he was able to talk to Steve and work things out to a point where they would meet at the house. This was a wonderfully emotional and intense read.

Joe really didn't endear himself to me in this episode, to say the least. I think my heart broke a little when Steve said out loud that he had been tortured... and Joe's reaction to it was very similar to slapping him in the face.

I tried my best to do justice to that scene, but I have to admit I was very nervous about it, so I'm really glad it came across as realistic. Heh, it was a challenge to write a story that pretty much consists of a phone conversation, but Danny and Steve made it work. ;-) And yes, Steve not having to hide his reactions turned out to be an added bonus.

Thank you so much, hon! *hugs* I'm glad you enjoyed this story. ♥

I think you did an amazing job with this, seriously. It's turned out so gorgeously! And oh, I have to share some love for this line:

“You gotta love Navy SEALs,” Danny murmurs under his breath.

Perfect blend of Danny humour and affection. ♥

I love this. I love that the whole conversation is on the phone and that they know exactly what the other is thinking.

I love that Danny's voice is an anchor for Steve and that Danny manages to be there for Steve via the phone when the flashback hits.

I love that even though the fic features only Steve and Danny - you can feel the Teamness and that they would do everything for Steve. ♥

Thank you very much for this fic! :)

I'm very glad you loved this story! Somehow I really like it when Steve and Danny have to communicate over a distance - probably because it shows how well they know each other and are able to read each other by now. :)

I have to admit that was probably my most favorite part in this story.

I always have to squeeze the Team in there somewhere - they can all be very insistent (not that I mind). ;-) I think they really would do anything for each other.

Thank you so much for your review and for you-know-what! *hugs*
