There goes the weekend of serious pie. I finally finished my dinners but not without getting really grumpy about steamed courgettes and talks from pompous elderly judges, who you cant quite make out because their jowls wobble every bleeding word. Was tempered with very nice wine, port and mockery with Catherine, which is always unwholesome snarly ( Read more... )

hehe I had to join one of the Inns of Court (Lincolns Inn...for its really pretty) and then eat there at 12 formal diners before I can be called to the bar (same as graduation) and be officially a Barrister, even though I wont be able to practice as one till after another year training. I can stick it after my name though and get exempt from formal solicitor training.
It is very silly but the Inn is ace.

I know, past a really nice pie shop on baker st on sunday, wanted a finger one :P Was very sad though, so might not be rushing to see again.

It is all confusing, cool though, does that mean that just need that course in stratford then full of shiny lawyerness or is that something more specialised? I'll start stockpiling my list of people to sue :Pxxxxx

Yup, I'll be done then, got to get some more experience then send proof of it to Law Society and I can transfer over to being a Solicitor, then take a few more exams and do pretty much the same court work as a barrister anyway. tis so silly. However, I will be there for your suing pleasure.

Yeah, thirded. Dinners? Wha'?

Oh, and when are you heading to Egypt again? We've got a department trip out there planned in April (even though I won't strictly be in the department any more...) and it already looks like there's one other group we know out there at the same time. Will you make it two? Are the stars that aligned?

Explanation given :P

Hopefully going in Aug again so sadly not, though that would be cool and your superior knowledge will be missed. How long are you over there for? Do you still have to attend the confs now?

Heh, my knowledge isn't that superior. I tend to rely on the people I work with to show me around - they've forgotten more than I could ever remember. Odd situation now, I don't have to go to anything, but I've already dropped cash on this trip for the deposit, so I might as well. If I hadn't I probably wouldn't go, because for time and money reasons it looks like I won't be able to go to a conference in Sienna that looks really good. Also means I won't be able to visit my brother after, which is probably going to piss him off.

Ah well, can't have everything I guess! Maybe I'll get more holiday time that I think and I'll still be able to make Sienna. But if I can't, then missing that, Dublin, Rhodes and exotic Liverpool, I'm saving thousands of pounds. Swings and roundabouts, and all that.

Inns of Court sound fun but a little weird! I wish someone would force me to go to posh dinners. But yay for name extension! Go you!

Scouting for Girls make me enraged. Although I will give them a chance and hope that they have a catalogue of songs far superior to 'She's So Lovely' and 'Elvis Ain't Dead'. Where are you moving to?
