Expect a lot of boring material in my future postings

As opposed to much smaller chunks thus far. ;-)

I am going to turn the focus of this diary over to my attempts to get healthier and happier. I am about to embark on a 27-month program designed to get me ready to turn 50.

That is right: I am counting down the months to the BIG 5-0Now, this may seem sorta early to start thinking about turning 50. ( Read more... )

You can do it!! I'm rooting for ya. I too had the 50 goal and did nothign about it. Now I'm sorry. But, my goal is similar to yours, not as agressive, but I want to be med free and at an ideal weight, more flexible and feeling super by the end of this year. It's amazing with my diet change, I am already feeling better. And the walking is helping too, though this week I slacked cuz hubby was out of town and I had no walking partner, and the weather sucked most of the week. He's not home yet, but it's so pretty out I'm going for my walk before I do some errands.

I cleaned house today and I'm not ready for the hosptial bed. Yay!!!

We'll be each other's cheer leader.

I also hear you're gonna come ride with us?

I think the plan we were discussing after our ride this afternoon was to get all the new riders and go out to a flat area for a few miles on weekends to start gettin y'all ready...

Yep, I need flat. I'm in terrible shape, and I'm gonna have to build slowly I think. I'm not sure of bike rules. Do you have to wear one of those helmets? I don't own one as yet. I have a mountain bike, It's a of all things Sears bike from way back, but it's hardly been ridden. I can't even remember the gears it has. It probably needs to be looked at by a bike expert and tell me if it needs anything. I have no clue.

I think the realistic goal setting is a great idea :) I have the thing where I want to/have to make health improvements but tend to fall down not so much from weak willedness ( although that is a factor ;) ) but from lack of specific goals/time lines ( ... )

Thank you also, for your support. Yeah, I felt the need to make a long-range plan, but also to break it up into small steps. Maybe this will help me get to where I want to go.

And, yes, big dreams motivate me more. No big plan, no action.
