Sex 'n' Religion Ramble

I'm curious, I'm not preaching. I was raised in a religion where we were taught that what the Bible says about sex before marriage is the way it is. In fact, people get thrown out of my religion for "fornicating", unless they show that they are truly repentant. So, I'm just wondering - how do people in other religions justify sexual activity ( Read more... )

i think that in our religion it is bad too! you just go to confession and repent....BUT you truly have to say and know that you aren't gonna do anymore....then you will be forgiven of that sin....and you can do that with any sin whether it be a mortal sin or just a sin..i think!

Hey, that's alliteration, lol!

Well, as a pagan, it's not looked down upon. It's not necessarily looked well upon; we just see it as a natural thing that humans do. Why live in fear of damnation just for a little pleasure?

in response to my wonderful sister's comment despite personal beliefs in the roman catholic church sex is viewed as a way to procreate the greatest gift that we recieved from being in the self image of god the best way to procreate and the only way we recognize is sex any form of contraceptive or artificial insemination is thought illicit and considered a sin but it is considered far worse to have an abortion which is off topic sex is considered sacred and also a high bond although most of my generation seems to lack this foresight that what they are doing besides religous implications can carry on further than that despite some of the animal instincts we can get where sex matter little more than a cheap thrill when it is truly a higher connection it seems many males have kept their animal problems where they can simply abandon something they have given life to it is why so many kids grow up without a father but that's not the point it is against the ten commandments which is the basic area from where all of our (catholics) belifs ( ... )

dont have to punctuate in lj as much as i really love to give you a hard time about it its much more fun not to and i admire your ability to not punctuate so freely catholocism is fascinating i think but puzzling - so if you plan to have sex do you have to confess to both planning it and doing it so is the spur of the moment kind better because you only have to confess once and if you decide to have sex, sorry needed that comma does is still count as just a sin because you decided in advance you were going to do it or is it worse than a sin because you knew it was against the 'rules' and did it anyway? and yeah my religion doesnt say its wrong to be gay but its wrong to practice being gay its not the condition its the act since thats specifically condemned? speaking of gay how do they justify the sex thing - any differently than straight people - i guess neither one is really allowed for in the Bible so what makes fornicators any better or any worse than homosexuals? hmmmmmm WOW, SCOTT! I CANT NOT PUNCTUATE!!!! I NEED TO FORCE MY ( ... )
