Title: The Best Words
Pairing: Nakajima Yuto x Shida Mirai x Yamada Ryosuke

Summary: this is a continuation of crescentharpe's The Best Confession. It would be better if you read that first. :) This is about Yamada blaming himself for what happened.
AN: flashbacks, Yamada's POV
He was always watching.
He was always watching her.
But I was too selfish.
I was too focused on my own happiness.
It was my fault.
“You should fall in love, too.” Yamada said to Yuto while Yuto was playing with his camera.
“I already love someone.”
Yamada just can’t take anymore of this. He took the camera and closed it.
“I know. Mirai, right?” Yuto’s eyes widen from Yamada’s words.
“I know, Yuto. You’re my best friend, I know you well.” Yamada continued.
“Well, it’s not really that important.” Yuto said.
“What are you talking about? You should tell her!”
Yuto laughed and that infuriate Yamada more.
“You do realize you’re saying that I should confess to your girlfriend?” Yuto said, still sniggering.
“I can’t take this anymore! I don’t know what the right thing to do is! I love Mirai, you know that, but you’re my best friend!” Yamada said willing his voice to tone down. He truly didn’t know what to do. He doesn’t understand why Yuto is talking as if it was nothing; as if his feelings are not important.
“Hey man, don’t work yourself out about this. She chose you. That’s all there is to it. You won. Fair and square. And I want you guys to be happy.” Yuto said, smiling sadly.
“Will you be happy?” Yamada said softly.
“I will. I am. I have you guys, I can’t ask for more. I can die without regrets-“
“Don’t talk like that!”
“I’m serious. I’ll be mad if you ever you hurt Mirai-chan but I’ll never take her away from you. You’re my best friend, too.” Yuto said earnestly.
“But-“
“Come off it, Ryo-chan. We have a trip tomorrow, don’t ruin my excitement!”
And I just let our discussion end like that.
Because I was also afraid if Mirai would leave me.
And then yesterday on our trip, while watching us, he went.
Mirai asked me to watch his last video together but I don’t want to. I feel like I’ll shatter.
But then I heard Mirai silently crying inside the room so I peeked in to check up on her.
“Mirai, I love you.” I saw a nervous Yuto say in the TV screen.
Mirai broke down.
I rush to her side and hugged her. I needed this, too. I need to feel that she’s still here, that I’m still here.
We just cried there. The feelings we tried to hide from Raiya all went loose.
Next thing I knew, the TV screen lit up again.
It was a video of Mirai and me, walking by the shore.
And then I heard his voice. He was narrating.
“These are my best friends, Ryo-chan and Mirai-chan.” It zoomed to our faces. We were laughing.
“They’re sweet, ne? I hope they’ll be happy forever. But of course I’ll know.” The camera then changed its focus to Yuto’s face. “’Cause I’ll be watching over you guys forever.”
He wasn’t just watching Mirai.
He was watching us.
And I realized I haven’t lost my best friend forever.
Because, like he said, he’ll always be watching us.
