i like how you refer to "med taking you from university". because med isn't real university. in fact, some consultants refer to it as a "full time job." but they're jerks.

If they were to reform med, they could probably skip the postgrad part, and just start paying people to work full-time after third year. Exams to advance to the next year/pay-grade/resposibility level until you're a doctor. It would be so much better than what it is.

if we wanted to write essays on Rawls, Tom, we would have done philosophy. we didn't. we did med, where one can spend a lot of time writing a case report for very little return in terms of learning. in the view of myself and a few others, at least, writing assignments is probably one of the least efficient ways to actually learn the things we need to know in order to interact with and treat patients. you and others may be different/disagree.
