Hello to everyone new on my flist. In honor of my new crack show, Legend of the Seeker (yes, it's cheesy standard fantasy, but it's very pretty and fun, and shut up), I'm doing a post which I've meaning to get around to for ages: recommendations of fantasy books. For all of you who don't know me, I read a lot. Specifically, I read a lot of fantasy ( Read more... )

Neat recomendations, thanks.

Have you read Katherine Kerr Devery series?

I have. I seem to recall enjoying the first couple of books and then I lost interest in the series somewhere down the line.

I can see how that would happen. They books started to be put out when I was in high school and the series is still not done. Close to 15- 20 years.

I think you recommended many of these to me when I asked for a rec list. (Which, sadly, I have not done anything with except let them grow a coat of dust on my shelf. I think I stalled out at the beginning of His Majesty's Dragon.)

Maybe I'll try again. I really do want to try Sabriel and reread the Belgariad.

It's so hard getting over the embarrassment of these things, isn't it?

I think that you might really like Sabriel. Female heroine, a little bit dark.

Sigh. Yes.

Ooooooooh BOOKS! *adds them to my reading list* I haven't had any good fantasy recs in ages! Unfortunately it also takes me ages to read things since fanfic distracts me too much *L*

Glad to help. If there's one thing I know, it's fantasy books.

I'm actually reading Castle of Wizardry right now. ^_~ I kinda have mixed feelings about The Belgariad though. It's kept me interested and I enjoy some of the characters, but I feel it's still lacking something. Guess I need to finish it before I pass my final judgment on it though. XD

I just recently bought Good Omens. I'll probably start that one after I finish The Belgariad. I'm looking forward to that one! ^_^

That's probably fair. I find that either you really love David Eddings or you don't. For me, I adore his sense of humor and the fact that I first read the books when I was 11 probably helps. There's a nostalgia thing.
