I harvested the first "real" veggie from my garden today: an eight-ball squash.  Sliced it and sauteed it with an onion,  julienned carrot, and a sprinkling of Herbes de Provence.  It was heavenly, without a doubt the finest zucchini I've ever tasted, sweet and buttery.  (I've harvested lettuce too, but it doesn't count, it's just leaves.)  ( Read more... )

I've decided on hiring a DJ for the wedding reception, as mine and Joe's musical tastes are so eclectic (and largely non-overlapping, surprisingly) that a band, while fun I'm sure, just won't cut it.

It's official; the save-the-date emails are out.  Captain and I marry on Friday Feb. 29th.

Captain is very happy and relaxed.  Me?  I feel like I've stepped on the Acela train; destination: wedding frenzy.

Capt and I are suddenly enthused on the idea of getting married on Leap Day, Feb. 29.  2 months away.  Will keep you posted.

Captain proposed to me on October 5, 2007, on Ft. Myers Beach in Florida.

We will be getting married sometime Fall 2008.

Tuesday, February 20th was Mardi Gras.  I barely registered that it was Mardi Gras.  Unlike in years past, where I've at least turned on the newscast to catch the small clips of beaded revelers, or hopped online to watch through the window of the "Bourbo-Cam"--this year, I missed it. And I found the adorable sign that my roommates made for me after a particularly festive night o' carousing.  It reads simply:
