Two months of hard vacationing...

Or that's what it feels like, at least. And by the end of it, it will have been 2 months. I started with a jaunt down to Bangkok, Thailand for an extended weekend. Almost as soon as I got back, Kate came from Australia for 20 days, and I took her on the whirlwind tour of Beijing and environs. Great Wall, Forbidden City, Wangfujing, Xidan, ( Read more... )

Thanks for taking care of him! He showed me the travel plans before I left, but quite honestly, I was so tired and there was too much work cross referencing on the map to really figure it all out. But if it's half as fantastic as the first two weeks were, it'll be the trip of a lifetime!

It sounds, however, that if I were with you, I'd be forever standing on the curb in Hong Kong watching traffic go by. I thought crossing the street in Beijing was taking your life in your hands and you were the bold and reckless one diving out there like you did - but you always made it across just fine! I just started to take a breath and follow you, no matter what was coming.

I remember your student Tiger telling me he is from Qingdao, how wonderful it is, and that I needed to come visit. It sounds like a really lovely city.

Tell Al hi, and that the jet lag coming this way is hell :)

WHAT??!!!!! We were staying in Tsim Sha Tsui. We went to Mongkok to pick up electronics.

Arrrgh. Clearly we need to be better about posting our itineraries online before going somewhere. Just in case. I never would have imagined you were in Hong Kong--I thought you were in France!

I was staying in Soy St - just near the Ladies Market. My knowledge of Hong Kong geography is scary. I kept on getting lost, until I realized that I was holding the map upside down. Unfortunately, this is a true story.

Did you go to that crazy computer street market near Golden Plaza? It was both heaven and hell because I hadn't brought enough cash with me to buy everything I wanted.

I dropped into Hong Kong on my way home to buy handbags, gifts and computer junk.

And speaking of itineraries, when are you leaving China? Will you still be there in September?
