I'm obviously at the age. now.
I've been talking to my mate on the phone, he's got cancer. The big scary curly cah.
A few years ago I was called by my mate who was a nurse.
I said 'you sound like you're at work'.
she said 'I'm at the hospital'.
I said 'you're working late'.
She said 'I'm *in* the hospital. I've got leukeimia'.

It's all grey!
I'm putting off going to work.
It's grim, grey and dismal out there... And my brain hurts because I enjoyed too many bottles of 'Stinger' nettle beer last night.
And I was woken up at 3:00 am by the fire alarm beeping. Not because there was a fire, but because there was a power cut! Must need a new battery for the back-up power supply. Or summat.

Ahhh, Sundays...
Had a lazy day, got up after 11. Decided to get out of the house... the stables were busy and the weather was enticing us into the countryside!
Fortified with eggs and toast we went for a wander in our local YWT woods. The 'shrooms are just starting to appear there; we found some nice fly agarics and some sort of cream-coloured ( Read more... ) -
Woodpeckers and Spaniels. And Taxes.
Had a splendid day at work yesterday. Although the weather was grim, I didn't get rained on (always a bonus). And I watched a Greater Spotted Woodpecker doing his thang (which included chasing magpies for some reason). And I threw sticks for two friendly English Springer Spaniels.

Swaledale
Decided to venture up this valley recently. It's a place I've hardly visited, but I like it because it's usually quieter than the other Dales valleys - less crammed full of tourists.
Found a place near Reeth called 'Maiden Castle'. Apparently it's an Iron Age fort. Weird place - perched half-way up a slope, overlooked by the summit. Definately not ( Read more... ) -
